Azizi
Initially, Azizi lived in exile from the Pride Lands with the rest of his clan. However, after his clan allied with Scar and helped him assassinate his brother Mufasa, he was allowed into the Pride Lands under Scar's rule. The hyenas devastated the kingdom with over-hunting and abused the lionesses. Eventually, the rightful heir to the throne, Mufasa's son Simba, returned and defeated Scar, despite the latter's attempts to blame the hyenas. Due to Scar's betrayal, Azizi and his clanmates attacked and killed him.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Azizi and his clan were exiled from the Pride Lands by Mufasa due to their proclivity to over-hunt. As a result, they set up residence in the Elephant Graveyard.
Attack on Simba and Nala[]
When Simba and his friend Nala wandered into the Elephant Graveyard, Azizi and his clan surrounded them. Kamari attempted to distract the cubs, but Azizi butted in, declaring that he wanted to eat them. An irritated then Kamari reprimanded Azizi. Just then, Shenzi approached and ordered her clan to attack the cubs. Azizi and his fellow hyenas chased Simba and Nala through the Elephant Graveyard until the cubs were surrounded. However, before they could attack, Simba's father Mufasa arrived and fended off the hyenas. He then warned Shenzi to never come near his son again.
Alliance with Scar[]
Later, Azizi annoyed Kamari by not giving him his personal space. He then mistook an approaching Scar for Mufasa, which frightened Kamari. Scar offered an alliance to Shenzi, promising the hyenas free reign of the Pride Lands if they helped him kill his brother.
The next day, Azizi helped start a wildebeest stampede that resulted in Mufasa's death. Scar sent the hyenas to finish Simba off, but the cub escaped over a cliff. Shenzi ordered Azizi and Kamari to confirm the cub's demise, but the two did not follow through, as they figured that no cub could survive such a fall.
With Mufasa dead, Scar became the new king, and Azizi and his clan were allowed into the Pride Lands. Over the years, the kingdom became a wasteland, as the hyenas over-hunted the herds. One night, Nala attempted to sneak out of the Pride Lands. Azizi, Scar, and several hyenas almost sniffed her out, but were distracted by Zazu.
Battle of Pride Rock[]
One day, a full-grown Simba returned to the Pride Lands and challenged Scar's kingship. Upon realizing that Simba was still alive, Azizi and Kamari bowed their heads in shame. In the ensuing battle between the hyenas and the lionesses, Azizi attacked Zazu, but Rafiki chased Azizi off. Shortly afterward, Scar attempted to frame the hyenas for his crimes, which Azizi, Kamari, and Shenzi overheard. After Simba defeated Scar and heaved him from Pride Rock, the hyenas attacked and devoured him in revenge.
Physical appearance[]
Azizi is the largest, stockiest, and strongest male hyena in his clan, though he is still slightly smaller and weaker than his leader, Shenzi. Compared to his clanmate Kamari, he is noticeably taller and more strongly built, with bigger shoulders, slightly sturdier legs, a stockier body, and a somewhat broader muzzle. Furthermore, his coat is darker, his mane shorter, his ears slightly smaller, and his forehead much less angular. Azizi also has a large chunk missing from his left ear.
Personality and traits[]
Despite being among the strongest of the hyenas, Azizi is not particularly intelligent, as he always takes things literally, does not understand figures of speech, and often rushes blindly into situations. He also does not understand personal space, as he will often get too close to Kamari while trying to be friendly. Of all the hyenas, Azizi appears to have the strongest sense of humor, as he laughed the hardest at Simba's failed attempt to roar. Despite his sense of humor and limited intelligence, Azizi is still a vicious hunter and fighter.
Like his fellow hyenas, Azizi has a deep fear and respect for his leader Shenzi, as he is very submissive in her presence. Despite this, he is willing to deceive Shenzi in order to avoid possible death, as shown when he willingly (and quite happily) went along with Kamari's decision to lie to their leader that they ate Simba so that they would not have to climb down a steep cliff to follow him. However, like Kamari, he showed shame when their deception was revealed.
When Scar attempted to double-cross the hyenas, Azizi was perhaps the angriest over the betrayal. While Kamari and Shenzi kept a calm, if not mocking tone, Azizi made no attempt to hide his rage and, once Shenzi gave the order, was the first of his clan to attack and kill Scar.
