Balto is a half-dog and half-wolf and another of Pooh's animal friends. His mate is a beautiful red husky named Jenna. He made his first appearance and met Winnie the Pooh and his friends in Winnie the Pooh Meets Balto.
Personality[]
Balto is brave, outgoing, smart, trustworthy, a bit shy, very kind, loyal, and cares deeply about others, but can be impulsive when it comes to Steele and Jenna. In the first film, he desires to be a sled dog, but is ashamed of his wolf heritage as it caused him to be bullied by the people of Nome and by most of the dogs, but after safely delivering the Antitoxin, he finally learned to accept it and that being part-wolf is a strength, and not a weakness. He seems to have good intentions, but has ended up on the dark side of the story due to his father's actions.
Despite his heritage and appearance, Balto always desired to be more like a dog than a wolf. He is deeply in love with Jenna. Balto has a lot of wisdom, patience, and perseverance that usually helps him save the day. He also cares a lot for others, and is willing to risk his own life to save someone else. Balto is also very humble (not letting fame go to his head). He appears to not have any interest in hunting, nor does he know how to do so.
Balto was very insecure about being half-wolf (a trait Aleu later developed) but after the events the first movie learned pride for his species (although he still says being half-wolf can be painful, and that some of the other dogs still make fun of him, and he was ashamed when he admitted to Aleu that he was half-wolf). By the 3rd film, all teasing stops and he is officially considered the hero of Nome. Balto also loves sled-dog racing, and would become very excited when watching one.
He also developed a fascination about flying in the 3rd film. This dream came true when Duke took Balto for a ride in his new plane, which he named the Balto Flyer in his honor out of gratitude for having saved his life. Balto often acts as a peacemaker breaking up fights and trying to prevent them by saying "we don't want any trouble", though this usually doesn't work.
He often avoids using force as much as possible, using his intellect to get out of tight spots. He is also not caught off guard easily, although whenever he is caught off guard, he catches on quickly.
Balto also has a soft spot for puppies, and was highly overprotective of Aleu, eventually having to let her go. Balto, despite his traumatic childhood, and being teased for several years, has a sense of humor.
