Big Jake is a silver, later slate blue propeller-driven, Lockheed L-1049, Lockheed Model 10 Electra plane who acts as a father figure to the young planes.

Every young plane should have a friend, confident and role model like him, Jay Jay's wise, warm-hearted father-like rode model/mentor. Big Jake is a large, steady, reliable plane whose specialty is transport. His strength and endurance are the stuff of legend in Tarrytown. And while Big Jake may look imposing, he would never use his tremendous size and strength to harm anyone. No matter what, Big Jake can be relied upon to get the job done.

Big Jake appears to be based on a Lockheed L-1049 with a mixture of Lockheed Model 10 Electra. He is silver-colored and has red stripes between both sides, adding wheels.
In the revival, he's now painted slate blue and has glass windows to resemble an actual plane.
