Narrator: The city of Townsville. And like most cities, Townsville prepares its young for bed as evening approaches.

(In the windows of one building, we see parents dressing their children in pajamas, helping them brush their teeth, and tucking them into bed.)

Narrator: The same is true in the home of the Powerpuff Girls.

(We cut to the girls' bedroom where the girls are dressed for bed, but not quite ready for sleep. Blossom is sitting up in bed, Buttercup is jumping on it in anger, and Bubbles is surveying a pile of stuffed animals worriedly.)

Buttercup: Man, I’m not ready for bed yet! (Zoom in slowly on Blossom as Bubbles grabs some stuffed animals.)

Ash Ketchum: Well, I am.

Pooh Bear: Me too.

Piglet: Me three.

Pikachu: Pikachu.

Blossom: Now, girls, you know we need to get plenty of sleep. It’s our responsibility as superheroines to be well-rested so that we’ll be at peak crime-fighting performance whenever evil rears its ugly head.

(As she continues, a large lump moves into view and makes its way up Bubbles’ section of the bed, in the center.)

Blossom: And, like Ben Franklin always said— (The lump emerges; it is the pile of stuffed animals, followed by Bubbles’ arms.) “Early to bed, early to wake, makes a lady smart, pretty, and great.”

(Bubbles remains under the covers, only her arms in view. Cut to Buttercup’s side of the bed.)

Buttercup: Yeah, yeah— (Bubbles peeks out.) —but all the fun stuff happens at night. Parties, dancing, nightclubs and stuff. (snapping her fingers) Girl, it’ll be awesome once we’re old enough to go out after dark. Right, Bubbles?

Bubbles: Uh…no. (She is terrified.)

Buttercup: What do you mean, "no"?

Bubbles: I don’t know. (Pull back.)

Buttercup: You’re not afraid of the dark, are you?

Bubbles: No.

Buttercup: You ain’t scared of monsters under the bed, are you?

(Blossom looks nervously over the edge of the bed; Bubbles cries out and pulls the covers back up. The heroes feel sorry for Bubbles.)

Bubbles: (shaking) No.

Buttercup: Well, then. I guess you wouldn’t be afraid of the Boogie Man, either.

Blossom, Bubbles: (Bubbles pulling covers down a bit) Who?

(Buttercup leans over Bubbles menacingly; as she speaks, her sister becomes increasingly fearful.)

Buttercup: Boogie Man! The creepiest, scariest, nastiest, long-finger-and-pointy-teeth-havingest, little-kid-gettingest monster in the WORLD! (backing off) But don’t worry. He only comes out…

(She turns off the light and leans forward again. Now, we see her only as a silhouette, with the pointy parts of her hair curling up like horns and her eyes shining in the darkness. She cuts a fearsome little figure.)

Buttercup:after dark!

(Bubbles screams)

Pooh Bear: Oh, my goodness!

Piglet: (gasps, screams) Boogie Man!

Tigger: Yikes!

Rabbit: (groans in annoyance)

Ash Ketchum: Enough, Buttercup!

Misty: Buttercup, will you cut it out?! You're scaring us!

Pikachu: Pika!

Brock: Yeah, stop it right now!

(The Professor bursts into the room, silhouetted in the light from the hall upon hearing Bubbles scream.)

Professor: Wha—?!

(Now Bubbles and Blossom both scream.)

Professor: Whoa!

Blossom, Bubbles: IT’S THE BOOGIE MAN!!

Professor: What? (turning lights on) Boogie Man? What’s going on in here?!

Brock: Buttercup's been scaring Bubbles!

Misty: Yeah, and she made her cry.

(Back to the bed. Bubbles is crying hysterically, Blossom wears a look of righteous anger, and Buttercup adopts the sort of caught-in-the-act expression that only a small child can get right, knowing she's in trouble for frightening her sisters, especially Bubbles. The heroes are annoyed with Buttercup scaring Bubbles.)

Professor: (stepping into view, picking up Buttercup) Buttercup—are you teasing your sisters again?!

Blossom: Yes. (He sits down next to Bubbles and puts an arm around her. She stops crying.)

Professor: Okay, Bubbles, calm down. Everything’s all right now.

Rabbit: (gently) It's all right, Bubbles. You're safe in bed, dear.

Blossom: (goody-goody mode) Professor, I was trying to sleep, but Bubbles was afraid of the dark, and—and Buttercup was telling scary stories, and then—

Professor: Yes, Blossom, I know. Buttercup was trying to be instigator.

Bubbles: (confused) A what?

Blossom: That means she was trying to get your goat.

(Bubbles takes the stuffed goat and whimpers in fear.)

Buttercup: Well, that's not my fault she's a baby scared of the dark.

Pooh Bear: Well, it's not nice to scare us.

Tigger: Yeah, that wasn't very nice scaring your sisters like that.

Buttercup: But, I was only kidding around.

Rabbit: (sternly) Well, that's no excuse for that, young lady.

Bubbles: I'm sorry. I wish I were brave.

Brock: It's okay to be scared.

Professor: Look, Brock has a point. Being scared doesn't make you a baby I was scared when I heard my girls screaming. But did I hide under the covers?

Pooh Bear: Oh, no, Professor. You didn't actually.

Blossom: Yeah, you went in to check on us very brave like.

Professor: Thank you, Pooh Bear and Blossom. You see bravery doesn't mean you're not scared. Bravery is doing what you're afraid to do if you could just face your fears then I know you could find the courage to beat him.

(Bubbles smiled)

Piglet: Thank you for the advice, Professor.

Professor: You're most welcome. Now, then, everybody, into bed. It's time for sleeping (kissing Blossom and Bubbles) (sternly, to Buttercup) And, no more monkey business. (kisses Buttercup)

Rabbit: (sternly) Professor's right, Buttercup, no more teasing Bubbles, all right?

Buttercup: All right, Rabbit.

(Professor turns off the light.)

Bubbles: But!

Professor: Don't worry, Bubbles. The hall light will take care of any Boogie Man that might show up.

Ash Ketchum: Don't worry so much, Bubbles. We're all right here.

Pikachu: Pikachu.

Misty: Try to go to sleep, Bubbles.

Pooh Bear: We're sure things we'll be better in the morning.

Bubbles: Okay, guys.

Pooh Bear: What's going on out there?!

Blossom: I can't get any sleep with all that racket out there!

Ash Ketchum: Me neither, it's driving us crazy.

Rabbit: Whoever is making all that infernal racket, I'm going to give them a talking too!

Pooh Bear: Oh my goodness. Townsville has been into a nightmare night club.

Buttercup; Right on! Right, Bubbles?

Bubbles: Well, it's got a good beat and I could dance to it.

Buttercup: Hey!

(Bubbles and Buttercup began dancing but a cat snarled at them.)

Bubbles: Hey, you got scared!

Cat: Yeah, little girl, I thought you like to party.

Buttercup: Let's get down!

Boogie Man: Well, well, well. It's the Powerpuff Girls and their friends crashing my party!

(Pooh Bear, Piglet and Bubbles become scared.)

Pooh Bear: Oh, no!

Piglet: Oh, d-dear! (hides behind Pooh Bear)

Bubbles: It's the Boogie Man!

Ash Ketchum: So, you're the Boogie Man!

Pikachu: Pika!

Boogie Man: So, what's it to you, kid?

Ash Ketchum: I have my Pikachu and I'm not afraid to have him shock you and all of your friends.

Boogie Man: (mockingly) Oh, my. You're a fiesty little boy.

Rabbit: I must say you're the monster who's been keeping all of us awake!

Boogie Man: (mockingly) Aww, I'm sorry, did I wake you? (the heroes rolled their eyes at him) (laughing) Don't expect to sleep anytime soon. because now that I've blocked out the accursed sun.

Ash Ketchum: (growls) You will pay dearly for disturbing the piece and thats what you'll get! You'll also pay for scaring little kids!

Boogie Man: (annoyed) Ah, zip it, kid. During my party I'm already listening to your stupid lectures. "Cause we're gonna make this night last forever!

(The monsters cheer.)

Misty: Block out the sun?

Brock: Blossom, look up in the sky!

Tigger: There's a big disco ball up in the sky.

Rabbit: You'd better get rid of that disco ball immediately.

Blossom: Good idea. You guys stay on earth and go back to our house while my sisters and I go up to space to get rid of that disco ball. We'll catch up, okay?

Pooh Bear: Okay, Blossom.

Rabbit: All right.

Ash Ketchum: Let's go, Pikachu.

Pikachu. Pika.

Blossom: Come on, girls. We gotta take out that disco ball!

(The heroes leave to go back to the girls' house while the girls fly up to the sky.)

Boogie Man: (shocked and angry) What?! No! They can't!

(He jumps into his limo and flies up into space.)

Boogie Man: I'll do it myself!

Bubbles: Blossom! Buttercup! (crying) Oh, no! I can't do it alone!

Professor: (memory) Bubbles, if you could just face your fears, you could find the courage to beat him.

Blossom: Now, blow up this disco ball, so we can go back to bed!
