Buddy (Ashley's Pikachu)

Nicknamed "Buddy." He is a Pikachu owned by Ashley "Alexa" Maselan ngunit Determinado. He is one of Ashley's Starter Pokémon.

Story[]

As Pichu[]

When Ashley's grandfather was still alive, he found Buddy as a Pichu and took care of him. He then passed him on to his friend Professor Narra of the Bayan region, asking him to reserve it for someone special. Buddy then never saw Ashley's grandfather again after that, presuming that Ashley's grandfather had passed away prior to evolving into Pikachu.

As Pikachu[]

Ashley came to pick her starter to begin her journey on her 11th birthday. When she tried to pick from the common Bayan starters, Professor Narra remembered in time about Pikachu and gave him to her. The two immediately saw eye-to-eye and Ashley quickly picked him, naming him Buddy.

Although their first meeting went off without a hitch, it was obvious that Buddy was not gonna be so easy to train. He had forgotten all of his moves after no battle time since his evolution.

He was used as her final Pokemon against Liam and Spyro, (aka) his Charizard in Liam VS Ashley! Battle of the Top 16!, after defeating his Kabutops by activating Static and knocking it out with a super effective Grass Knot. He nearly defeated Spyro after learning Volt Tackle, but that caused him to activate his Ability, Blaze.

After a grueling battle, he was eventually defeated by a collision between Flare Blitz over Volt Tackle, although Spyro staggered briefly but regained his footing, however, it was Buddy who was the one to go down, eliminating Ashley from the Johto league.

He was present in Johto Photo Finish where he and his Trainer watched Liam's battle with Jon Dickson, but were sympathetic after Liam got eliminated from the league, due to his loss with Jon Dickson.

Personality and Characteristics[]

Buddy is kind, caring, and loyal, but can also be reckless at times, often failing to cooperate with Ashley's methods of battle.

Like Ash and his Pikachu, they both share a sibling-like bond and are very close. Sometimes Buddy affectionately refers to Ashley as "Sissy".

After an encounter with a wild Arbok that bit Ashley, Buddy felt responsible for getting his trainer involved as she risked herself to protect him.

He has an Impish nature and his characteristic is "Sturdy body".
His ability is Static.
As of the Alola Arc, Buddy (after becoming a Pikachu prior to flashback) later reveals that he cannot evolve any further due to unstable conditions from the Thunder Stone, and as such, he is incapable of evolving into Raichu since he refuses to evolve into one which is not entirely true, the reason he is unable to evolve is because as of the Alola Arc, he began to wear a Trainer Hat, and in the Galar Arc, he is revealed to be a Gigantamax Pokemon, meaning he cannot evolve at all.
- Coincidentally, Buddy's inability to evolve is likely a reference to Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!'s starter Pokémon, a titular Pikachu who would not evolve.
He is similar to Ash's Pikachu in a number of ways:
- Both share a sibling-like bond with their trainer.
- Both refuse to be in their Pokeballs.
- Both cannot evolve.
His favorite snack is suman, a traditional Filipino snack made from rice and coconut milk (similar to Thailand's kew nio bien).
