Hero version[]

Not all control freaks are villains. Some heroes like to control others probably because they think they're protecting them or teaching them to do the right thing. They are recognizable by their domineering personalities and their continuous belief that others should do what they say and that they know best, even if they do not.

Typically, these characters have to go through major character development as initially they think they're doing what is best for their significant others, when really, they are bringing some kind of physical or emotional (usually the latter) harm to those they wish to protect.

Pure Goods cannot fall under this category because they do not exhibit controlling or authoritative behavior towards others. This distinguishes them from corrupting qualities, as Pure Goods consistently display traits of kindness, friendliness, selflessness, and incorruptibility. However, if a Pure Good appears to have controlling tendencies, it is important to consider their genuine care for the individuals, ensuring that their actions do not cause despair or negativity. In these cases, they should go under the Disciplinarians, Misguided, Insecure, Lawful Good, Failure-Intolerant and Obsessed categories instead.

Villain version[]

Control Freaks are people who are recognized by their continued belief that others should do what they say and that they know best, even if they do not. To qualify as so, they need to have absolute control on everyone or minimum one person.

Control Freaks are not always fully villainous, but rather misguided or merely unlikable. However, most of them are antagonistic due to the very nature of being a Control Freak; villains such as these will often go to great lengths to assert their power and authority over others. It is also common for them to be arrogant, insecure, deluded or perhaps even mentally challenged.
