Detectives

Detectives are extremely intelligent heroes (though not always genius-level) who specialize in solving crimes via finding clues and other detective work - true detectives are part of law-enforcement but many detectives in fiction are either solo or do not work within the traditional justice system (though they usually support it).

Famous examples of heroic detectives would be Batman and Sherlock Holmes.
