The Wayward are heroes or heroines who refuse to let someone make decisions for them. Be it teenage girls, slaves, warriors, or any hero or heroine who feels confined to a certain place, they are willing to defy any rules or expectations, usually those that are unjust. Ariel, Merida, Buzz Lightyear from Lightyear, Kuki Shinobu and Solomon Northup are examples.
