"HEL-LOOOOOOO! New friend, you're sure up late, are we having a slumber party? Where are all your friends? We can fingerpaint, tell stories, drink Fizzy Fazz until our heads ex-PLODE and then stay up all night!!! There's only one rule... keep the lights on... ON... on...”

"Bad children must be punished..."

“Happy birthday! Warning! Warning! Child in danger. Safety mode active - Little girl, you can't be in here, it's dangerous. I need to clean up before we can open in the morning! This place will be flooded with kids. Come back soon and have a faz-errific day!”

The Daycare Attendant is a minor antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, the Ruin DLC, and Help Wanted 2. He is the animatronic that runs the Mega Pizzaplex's Superstar Daycare.

He has two alternate personalities, Sun and Moon. Sun, the "main" personality, is energetic, hyperactive, and overwhelmingly friendly. He is very childish, but also very responsible. Moon on the other hand, is much more sinister and hostile. Sun turns into Moon when the lights are off, a gimmick from when he used to be a stage performer.

In the “Ruin” DLC, he becomes Eclipse, a combination of Sun and Moon, after being rebooted by Cassie.

Lore

  • In Joey's Adventures of Beauty and The Beast, the Moon side of the Daycare Attendant was split from it's Sun side. The Moon side was placed into a new robotic body and is a member of The Anti-Tabbic Protection Force while it's Sun side is a member of The Tabbic Protection Force and a member of the mini group: Team Tempest, which is part of The Tabbic Protection Force.

Trivia

  • They are also known as Sundrop (or Sunnydrop) and Moondrop.
  • The Daycare Attendant is voiced by Kellen Goff, who also voices Funtime Freddy, Molten Freddy, Fredbear, and Glamrock Freddy.
    • Kellen also voices Diavolo from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, a character who also has two different personalities.
  • The Security Breach Files reveal that the "Sunnydrop" and "Moondrop" candies were created to make Sun and Moon more appealing to kids.
  • The Daycare Attendant has bells on his shoes and on the ribbons wrapped around his wrists. Many have speculated that this is to help blind and deaf children know where he is.
    • It is also speculated that he knows sign language due to his articulated hands.
  • In Security Breach, Moon is seen "floating" through the daycare via a wire hanging from the ceiling. It is believed this is so he doesn't wake up the sleeping kids and still keep an eye on them.
  • The story “Bobbiedots, Part 1” in “Tales from the Pizzaplex 4: Submechanophobia” reveals that the Daycare Attendant was originally a stage performer whose gimmick was turning from the happy cheery Sun into the evil malevolent Moon when the lights went out. The show was not very popular among guests, so he was repurposed as a Daycare Attendant. For unknown reasons, they could not disable the programming that turned Sun into Moon.
    • This backstory is hinted at through some of Sun's voice lines in Help Wanted 2. (Ex. "Mhmh, once more, from the top, this time with talent!")
  • Moon appears to be the only one (of the Daycare Attendant’s personalities) affected by Glitchtrap's virus, being more aggressive and even downright cruel to the children in the Daycare (as revealed in a Faz-Watch message) as well as Gregory. While Sun is generally friendly and seemingly less affected by the Glitchtrap virus, he is notably extremely fearful of Moon and even more so of transforming into him. Thus, he is particularly strict about the lights being kept on. The experience is so distressing that Sun becomes extremely angry and agitated post-transformation; this is shown when he kicks Gregory out of the daycare and draws the attention of the other animatronics to him, seemingly no longer having any concern for Gregory’s safety.
  • In “Help Wanted 2,” one of the levels involves doing arts and crafts with Sun, completing the tasks before the lights turn off and he turns into Moon. Sun is friendly and cheerful, but is quite anxious about the player getting their work done before the lights turn off. He even gets very irritated and impatient with the player if they are not following his instructions, or taking too long. Repeatedly throwing objects at him and/or shooting him with the dart gun may even cause him to snap and attack the player - the only time he does so in the series to date. Sun is also shown to be a perfectionist (possibly in part due to his theatrical background) as he is extremely critical of the player’s work and will make sassy and snarky remarks.
  • It's possible that Gregory could've just spent the rest of the night in the Daycare until 6AM. However, there's the issue of the power being diverted to the recharge stations every hour, during which Sun becomes Moon.
