Derek Dietl is a local weatherman who was planning to marry Susan Murphy in Monsters vs. Aliens. However, the wedding was called off and ruined when Susan became a giantess due to the effects of the Quantonium inside her. Right after Susan destroyed the Robot Probe at the Golden Gate Bridge, she gets back to him and tries to convince him to marry her again. Unfortunately, Derek breaks up with her and reveals his true intentions to her. He tells her that he cannot be married to someone who would overshadow his career as a weatherman.
