Dio Brando, later known as simply DIO, is the main antagonist in Part 1 and 3 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. He also makes other minor appearances in later Parts 4-6.

As a young boy, he was sent to live with the wealthy Joestar family. He immediately took a disliking to his stepbrother, Jonathan, and went out of his way to torment him, doing things such as spreading nasty rumors and even killing his beloved dog Danny. He became bent on destroying the Joestar bloodline, which is a recurring conflict throughout the series.

He is voiced by Takehito Koyasu in the Japanese dub and Patrick Seitz in the English dub.

His stand is The World (Za Warudo), which has the ability to stop time.

• Dio is a vampire, having used Kars' Stone Mask to "reject his humanity."
• He is known to have four illegitimate sons: Giorno Giovanna, Donatello Versace, Ungalo and Rikiel.
• The only person he ever had a genuine emotional bond with was Enrico Pucci.
