• (Episode begins with a young girl riding her bike up a hill)
• Girl: Whoo! Yeah. (narrating) Hi. My name's May and I'm 10 years old. I'm on my way to meet my dad's friend, Professor Birch, and to get my beginner's Pokémon. Then I can begin my journey as a Pokémon trainer. But just between you and me, what I'm more interested in is traveling and seeing new places. There it is. Littleroot Town up ahead.
• (On her right, a ghost-type Pokémon called Duskull, appears)
• Duskull: Duskull! ("Greetings.")
• (May, frightened, goes down a hill on the rear wheel of her bike before it lands on the front wheel and she hits a tree face first)
• May: I guess I... should have worn a... helmet. Ow... (falls down)
• Duskull: Duskull? (leaves) Duskull. ("That so? Farewell.")
• (A bit later, May rides up another hill)
• May: The truth is, I don't like Pokémon.
• (She then reaches the top and stops)
• May: Ah, voila. (looks down upon Littleroot Town) But the traveling? I just love it.
• (The camera blacks out before the Liam's Adventures of Pokémon Advanced opening plays)
• Ash (V.O.): Get the Show on the Road!
• Narrator: Still determined to become a Pokémon master, Ash and his best friend Pikachu continue their quest as they sail toward the Hoenn region.
• (The camera cuts to inside the ferry)
• Narrator: But right now, there's only one thing on Ash's mind.
• (Pikachu is seen sparking)
• Ash: Just try to rest, Pikachu. As soon as we dock, I'm gonna take you right over to the Pokémon Center.
• Pikachu: (feeling unwell) Pi...Pika. ("Th-thanks buddy.")
• Ben: I just hope this thing can go a bit faster.
• (Unknown to them, on the deck of the ship, Team Rocket was on board)
• Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Littleroot Town. Prepare for arrival.
• James: Littleroot Town?
• Jessie: The city whose colors will never change.
• James and Meowth: Huh?
• Jessie: That's right. Littleroot Town has remained true to its roots. Ah, me, I guess my colors have slowly been changing over the years.
• Meowth: What do you mean?
• James: Jessie, have you been here before?
• Jessie: Mm-hmm. Is this really all that there is?
• James and Meowth: Huh?
• Jessie: Following the twerp along with his PDU escort and trying to catch Pikachu? James, have we ever truly blasted off at the speed of light?
• James: Is she speaking hypothetically?
• Meowth: If dat means wacky, den yes.
• Wobbuffet: Wobbuffet! ("That's not it.")
• (Jessie takes out her Pokéball, recalls Wobbuffet and sighs. James and Meowth also sigh. As for our heroes, they disembark immediately)
• Ash: Excuse me, sir. Could you tell where the Pokémon Center is?
• ???: I'm afraid this town doesn't have a Pokémon Center.
• Ben: He's right, Ash. Littleroot Town is one of the few towns in the region without a Pokemon Center.
• Ash: Huh? (looks at Pikachu with worry) Pikachu. (gets an idea) I know!
• Ben: Got a plan?
• (Ash quickly heads to the nearest phone and makes a call)
• Ash: Hello? Is this Professor Birch's laboratory? I'm Ash from Pallet Town. It's an emergency.
• (Meanwhile, at Professor Birch's lab)
• Scientist: What? Your Pikachu's ill? That's terrible. Well, unfortunately, Professor Birch is out in the field right now conducting an experiment. Stay put, Ash. I'll try and get in touch with him.
• Ash: Great. Thanks a lot.
• (The scientist hangs up, while Ash sits down with his ill Pikachu)
• Ash: It's okay. Everything's gonna be just fine now.
• Ben: (in thought) Come on, Birch. Can't your experiment hold off for a bit?
• (Our heroes look out over the ocean with worry as Wingull fly overhead and Ash continues to watch Pikachu)
• Ash: Pikachu.
• (Suddenly, an SUV screeches in)
• ???: Are you Ash Ketchum?
• Ash: Yeah! Are you Professor Birch?
• Prof. Birch: Let me see. (looks at Pikachu) Not good. Let's get him to my lab immediately! Are you all his traveling companions?
• Ben: We are, Professor Birch. I'm pretty sure you know me.
• Prof. Birch: I'm well familiar with you, Benjamin. But for now, we'll deal with introductions later. Pikachu needs attention, now.
• Ben: Right. Come on!
• (A few of the gang hope into the SUV while everyone else runs alongside while Pikachu continues to spark)
• Prof. Birch: I see. Symptoms of electrical discharge.
• Ash: What's that mean? What symptom?
• Ritsu: Could you explain, please?
• Prof. Birch: Pikachu is unable to release his electricity regularly, so he randomly sparks like that. It's a serious problem that sometimes occurs among electric types. (to Ash) Tell me, has Pikachu been exposed to any magnetic fields?
• (Ash soon has a flashback to what happened the day before)
• Ash: Yeah, that's it! Pikachu was strapped to a magnet.
• Prof. Birch: An electromagnet, probably.
• (Pikachu tries to get loose)
• Ash: What is it, Pikachu? What's the matter?
• Ben: What's wrong with him, professor?
• Mugi: Yeah, Pikachu acting wild! Why?
• Prof. Birch: The high fever is confusing him.
• (Pikachu sparks again)
• Ash: (worried) Pikachu!
• Mugi: Professor, it's getting worse!
• Prof. Birch: You're right. This is bad. We've got to get it to the lab immediately. Better hold on tight, everyone.
• (The professor starts driving off-road)
• Ben: (notices something) Up ahead!
• Ash: Look out!
• Prof. Birch: Sorry. We don't have a moment to lose!
• (Professor Birch drives right off a ledge and then speeds right down a hill before passing a lake with butterfly-like Pokemon flying over it)
• Ash: Pikachu, it won't be long now.
• Mugi: Guys, there it is!
• (Right as Mugi spoke, they arrived at Birch's Laboratory, where the professor brings the SUV to a stop right before his assistant)
• Assistant: This way, Professor. Everything is in place and ready for you.
• Prof. Birch: Thank you. This way, everyone.
• (Everyone goes inside, where Pikachu is placed on a table and attached to a device)
• Assistant: Application set.
• Ash: What's that?
• Prof. Birch: A device that will rid Pikachu of all his trapped electricity. Power on, Joshua.
• Joshua: Yes, sir.
• (Joshua pulls the switch and activates the machine)
• Ash: Pikachu, just hold on.
• Ben: You're going to make it!
• (However, the trapped electricity quickly starts to overload the machine)
• Joshua: Professor...
• Prof. Birch: Keep going!
• (Pikachu's sparks become more powerful)
• Ash: Pikachu.
• (Suddenly, the device breaks)
• Joshua: It's too much. It won't hold!
• (Professor Birch and Joshua back away from the device as it explodes. Once the smoke settles, Pikachu makes a run for it out the destroyed window)
• Ash: (gasps) Pikachu! (runs out the window)
• Ben: Ash, wait!
• Prof. Birch: Do you have Pokemon that are strong against an electric type?
• Ash: I don't have any other Pokémon with me now!
• Prof. Birch: Well, then we'll use mine. (picks up three of his Pokéballs)
• Ritsu: You're not going without us, Professor.
• Ben: Ash is my student...
• Ashley: And our friend.
• Ritsu: So we stick together, no matter what.
• Prof. Birch: Okay, let's go!
• (All but Joshua run out the window)
• Joshua: But, wait! We had set those Pokéballs aside for May, remember?
• (Professor Birch soon stopped, knowing Joshua was right)
• Prof. Birch: There's no choice! When she gets here, just tell her to wait! (runs off)
• Ben: We need to catch Pikachu now, before it's too late!
• (However, unknown to any of them, Team Rocket was snooping around)
• Meowth: Wonder what's with Pikachu.
• Jessie: Oh, goodie. Now we run, too. (sighs disappointed)
• Meowth: And now what's wit you?
• James: It's what we do, Jess. Chase.
• (Meanwhile, up ahead)
• Prof. Birch: Ash, wait for us!
• Ash: Guys! Professor Birch.
• Prof. Birch: Pikachu's internal electricity is too high! A disturbance of any kind into Pikachu's electrical field could cause a massive explosion!
• Yui: Explosion?!
• Sydney: That's not good!
• (Everyone envisions a horrible possibility of what would happen to Pikachu, worrying Ash even more)
• Ben: If Pikachu goes boom, he could wipe out anything and everything within a two mile radius!
• Prof. Birch: Pikachu's in much more trouble than I thought.
• Ash: Now what?
• Prof. Birch: I think we'll have better luck if we split up and search for him.
• Ash: Yeah, you're right.
• Ben: Okay, Mugi, Ritsu, and I will go with Ash in this direction. The rest of you go with Professor Birch!
• Negi: Right!
• (Everyone soon splits up. Meanwhile, at Professor Birch's lab, May has shown up)
• Joshua: You must be May.
• May: Yep, I'm looking for Professor Birch.
• Joshua: He had an emergency in the mountains, but asked that you wait for him here.
• May: Oh, then I'll go find him. (rides off)
• Joshua: Wait. Hold on!
• May: I've never been much good at waiting. Bye!
• Joshua: (sighs) These kids, always in a hurry.
• (Meanwhile, Ash and his group are seen looking and running)
• Ash: (worried) Pikachu! (x2)
• Mugi: Pikachu!
• Ritsu: Where are you?!
• (But they don't get an answer)
• Ben: He's not anywhere around here. Let's move on!
• (They swiftly do so)
• Ash: (calling) Pikachu! Come on out, Pikachu!
• Ben: I'm starting to wish that I had Banzai with me. (in thought) Instead of handing him off to my contact from the Hoenn PDU HQ in Mauville.
• (Elsewhere, Negi, Miyazaki and her Ralts, Asuna, Tim, Mio, Dora and Emma were looking for them too)
• Miyazaki: (calling) Pikachu!
• Ralts: Ralts Ral? ("Can you hear us?")
• Negi: (calling) Hey Pikachu, where'd you go?
• Dora: Dónde está?
• Chamo: (to Mio) Hey, you in the black hair! Why is that girl speaking in a different language?
• Mio: First of all, the name is Mio. Secondly, Dora is bilingual. She speaks English and Spanish.
• Chamo: Well, now you tell me.
• (Meanwhile with Prof. Birch)
• Prof. Birch: Pikachu! Where are you, Pikachu?! (sighs) Where are you hiding?
• (The professor suddenly slips)
• Prof. Birch: Whoa!
• (The professor slid straight down and landed right behind and frightened a sleeping dog-like Pokemon)
• Prof. Birch: (realizes what's going on and laughs) Oh, hi, there. Sorry for just dropping in on you like that, Poochyena.
• (The Poocheyena howls, causing two more to show up before they start growling angrily at the professor)
• Prof. Birch: Uh, that's not a friendly greeting. No, doesn't sound sad either. So that leaves one thing, you're angry!
• (The Poochyena pounce at the professor and start chasing him down)
• Prof. Birch: I'm brilliant! Please, stop it! Can't we discuss this?! Help!
• (Up on the ledge, May rides in)
• May: Professor Birch?
• (Professor Birch, up in the tree, spots May)
• Prof. Birch: Terrific. You must be May. Great timing! Please, open that bag over there!
• May: This one here, right?
• Prof. Birch: Yes, grab any of the Pokéballs inside and hurry!
• (May soon gasps in worry as she spots the Pokéballs, knowing she doesn't like Pokemon)
• May: That's easier said than done. Which one of them do you want?
• Prof. Birch: Any one will do!
• May: (sighs) Okay, this one. (takes out one Pokéball) Here goes! (tosses it)
• (From the Pokéball, a blue, fish-like Pokemon materializes)
• Prof. Birch: Alright, a Mudkip!
• Mudkip: Mudkip? ("Who's this?")
• May: That's good. Now what should I do?
• Prof. Birch: Call out one of its attacks!
• May: Okay, which is...
• Prof. Birch: Just say "Use Water Gun" now!
• May: Got it. (to Mudkip) Use Water Gun.
• (But the Mudkip fired the attack at her instead)
• May: That supposed to happen?
• (Professor Birch just sighs before the branch breaks, sending him falling towards the Poochyena below, who proceed to chase after him again)
• Prof. Birch: Mudkip, this way! Over here!
• (Mudkip quickly heads down to the professor)
• Prof. Birch; Use Water Gun on the Poochyena!
• (Mudkip fires and nails all three Poochyena, impressing May)
• May: Not bad.
• (The three Poochyena run for it)
• Prof. Birch: Mudkip, return.
• (Mudkip is recalled)
• Prof. Birch: Thanks for all of your help, May.
• May: Oh, it was nothing.
• Prof. Birch: You've really grown up a lot since I last saw you, May.
• May: Professor, what's going on? What were you doing up in that tree?
• Prof. Birch: There's really no time for this, May! We'll catch up, later!
• (Meanwhile, Pikachu continues to wander around)
• Ben: There he is!
• Ash: Pikachu! Pikachu, just stay right there.
• (But all Pikachu sees is a blob that looks like Ash with a distorted voice that slows down, prompting him to start sparking again, but this causes his eyes to glow red before he releases a terrifying blast of power)
• May: What was that?
• Prof. Birch: Pikachu's electrical buildup is reaching critical mass.
• (May was confused by what the professor was saying)
• Prof. Birch: PIkachu. He might explode! (runs off, leaving May terrified by what he said)
• (Meanwhile, Ash and his group were knocked back by Pikachu's powerful blast)
• Ben: Oh, my head.
• Ritsu: What a blast, and I don't mean that in a good way.
• Ash: (gets up) Pikachu.
• (Ash tries to approach, but Pikachu starts sparking again)
• Ash: We've gotta get back to Professor Birch's laboratory, now!
• Ben: But that's easier said than done. Pikachu could go boom at any moment!
• (Pikachu sparks yet again before Professor Birch shows up)
• Prof. Birch: Get away!
• (Everyone looks and sees the professor with May)
• Prof. Birch: Pikachu could explode at any moment!
• Ash: But I've gotta help!
• Ben: But that begs the question of what we could even DO?!
• (Pikachu soon runs off)
• Ash: Hey! Pikachu!
• (Pikachu, not looking where he was going, runs off a cliff)
• Ash: Oh no!
• Ben: He's run right off a cliff!
• (Ash then lunges forward to rescue his friend as everyone watches in shock)
• Ben: NO!!!
• All heroes: Who's that Pokemon? It's Lanturn!
• (Back to the show)
• (Ash manages to catch himself on a branch while grabbing Pikachu at the same time)
• Ben: He got him!
• Ritsu: WOOO, yeah! Ooh, look at Ash and his bad self! He snatched Pikachu right out of the air!
• Chamo: I'll say! "Oh, I'm the powerful force of gravity, I'm taking you both down." Well, not today, pal! Uh huh! (x4)
• Ash: I'm gonna help you, Pikachu! Don't worry!
• (Pikachu starts sparking again)
• Ash: Just hang on!
• (Soon, a rope drops down)
• Prof. Birch: Quick, Ash! Grab the rope!
• Ash: Okay!
• (Ash grabs said rope and starts climbing up the ledge, but Pikachu tries to get loose again)
• Ash: Pikachu, hold still! It's okay!
• (Pikachu starts sparking again)
• Ash: Pikachu!
• (Pikachu then bites Ash's arm before he sparks again)
• Ash: Pikachu.
• (Pikachu looks up)
• Ash: I promise, you're gonna be fine!
• Pikachu: Pika Pi. ("Ash.")
• (Ash continues to climb up before finally reaching the top)
• May: That was close.
• Ash: Thanks a lot, you guys.
• Pikachu: Pika Pi. ("Ash.")
• Ash: Pikachu. What do you say we get back to the lab and get you all better? Okay?
• Ben: I say that's a great idea. But it looks like Pikachu bit you.
• (Pikachu starts licking the spot where he bit Ash)
• Pikachu: Chu. ("Sorry.")
• Ash: I'm fine. I know you didn't mean it, little buddy.
• Jessie: Prepare for trouble? What's the point? Oh well.
• (Suddenly, a large, mechanical foot stomps down and forward, catching everyone's attention)
• Prof. Birch: Huh? What's that?
• Jessie: Prepare for trouble for the umpteenth time.
• James: Make it double and I'll make it rhyme.
• Jessie: To protect the world from devastation.
• James: To unite all people within our nation.
• Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love.
• James: To extend our reach to the stars above.
• Jessie: Jessie.
• James: James.
• Jessie: Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light.
• James: Surrender now, or prepare for an out-of-this-world fight.
• Jessie: What's the point?
• Meowth: Dat's right.
• Mugi: Team Rocket?!
• Ben: (grunts) Not these creeps again!
• Ritsu: So, you followed us all the way to the Hoenn region, huh?!
• Mio: You're starting to act like stalkers!
• Ash: Professor Birch, that's Team Rocket, and they keep trying to catch Pikachu.
• May: Team Rocket? Who are they?
• Prof. Birch: I've never heard of them.
• Ben: We were hoping it would stay that way.
• Ash: Trust me. They're always up to no good
• Lilo: Yeah, those three are a bunch of lowly, no-good stinky-heads!
• Miyazaki: Yeah, we've dealt with these crooks before in the past!
• Ralts: Ralts Ral Ralts! ("And we can do it again!")
• Ben: But if they think they're going to take Pikachu, they're more suicidal than foolish!
• (The three enter the robot)
• Meowth: So, Pikachu, where's all your Tunderbolts?
• James: My, aren't we confident?
• Meowth: (giggles) Well, I, for one, have been doing my homework. Now dig dis! I've come up with a machine dat'll beat dat pesky Pikachu at its own nasty game. No matter how high these volts go, this machine will absorb them!
• (Pikachu tries to leap into battle)
• Ash: Don't do anything, Pikachu!
• Ben: Do you three even get what's going on?! Because of your electromagnet yesterday, Pikachu's in danger of exploding from electrical buildup!
• James: Electrical buildup? Exploding?
• Meowth: Dat's how you wanna play?! Trying to make us think Pikachu's gonna go kablooey?! Fine wit us!
• (A claw comes out of the robot and grabs Pikachu before connecting it to the absorbers)
• Meowth: Absorption, James!
• James: Yes, sir! Absorb away!
• (With the pull of a lever, Pikachu has its electrical power drained)
• Meowth: (laughs triumphantly) What an electrifying moment for Team Rocket!
• James: Shocking!
• Ash: Pikachu!
• Ben: Wait! I think they're actually helping us!
• Ritsu: Are you sure you didn't knock a screw loose when you hit your head?
• Ben: Think about it. They're DRAINING Pikachu's electrical energy, which we know was built up due to their electromagnet!
• Ritsu: So they're CURING Pikachu!
• Mugi: Looks like, for once, Team Rocket is doing something right.
• (Meanwhile, Meowth and James don't even notice what's really going on)
• Meowth: (laughs) Took a while, but I'm pleased to announce dat we finally come up wit a winner! Ha!
• Jessie: If it actually works.
• (Soon, the energy absorption device reaches critical mass)
• Ash: Professor?
• May: Now that's power!
• Ben: Yeah, everyone stand by and let Pikachu have all that stored up electricity drained. Plus, they're reaching critical mass!
• Ritsu: Which means instead of Pikachu going boom...
• Chamo: Those three idiots will!
• Prof. Birch: Pikachu's output is INCREDIBLE!
• Ben; That's why that Pikachu is known as the WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL!
• Meowth: (laughs sheepishly) Don't worry.
• James: Do I look worried?
• Jessie: Oh, well. Another blast-off?
• (Soon, the absorption process stops)
• Pikachu: Pi....Pika. ("Hey....I'm cured!")
• (Pikachu then launches a Thunderbolt to shock the machine, amazing everyone)
• Ben: That's more electrical power than Team Rocket can bare!
• (One bolt accidentally hits May's bike)
• May: (gasps in horror) My bike's barbecued!
• (Back in the robot, Team Rocket was feeling the power)
• Jessie: We haven't been wasting our time after all! This amazing Pikachu is the only thing the boss would want!
• James: But have we captured....
• Meowth: Too much of a good ting?
• Wobbuffet: Wobbuffet! ("I think so!")
• Jessie: Do you smell something burning?
• Team Rocket: (realizing what they're smelling) I think we're smelling us!
• (The robot suddenly explodes)
• Meowth: Quite a Tunderbolt.
• Jessie: It has renewed my energy and passion!
• Wobbuffet: ("Welcome back!")
• James: Here we go.
• Team Rocket: Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!
• (The smoke clears and Pikachu is on solid ground)
• Pikachu! Pika! ("Good riddance!")
• Ben: I hope that blast sends them all the way back to Kanto.
• (Soon, Pikachu collapses)
• Ash: Pikachu! Pikachu, are you okay?
• Ben: I think he wore himself out with that massive Thunderbolt. Let's get him to the lab.
• (Back at Professor Birch's lab)
• Joshua: Professor Birch. It appears that Pikachu's electricity pressure has reached normal levels.
• Prof. Birch: Good. That machine of Team Rocket's must've absorbed all of Pikachu's unneeded electricity.
• Ben: Told you. Team Rocket actually did something right.
• Ash: Pikachu.
• Prof. Birch: A goodnight's sleep ought to do the trick.
• (May tries to peek in, but nearly knocks over a vase of flowers before catching it and everyone's attention)
• May: (nervously) Hi. Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm May.
• Ash: And I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town.
• Ben: Allow me to introduce myself, as well. I'm Benjamin Joseph Rockefeller, PDU agent extraordinaire (shows his badge) at your service, Miss May.
• Yui: I'm Yui Hirasawa, lead guitarist for After School Teatime.
• May: After School Teatime? That band I've heard about?
• Yui: That's us. And this is Aden.
• Aden: How do?
• Ui: I'm Yui's little sister, Ui. I play rhythm guitar, and this is Luca, Aden's younger brother.
• Luca: Hello, and that's Sydney, one of my other brothers.
• Sydney: Greetings. We're the Tidal brothers.
• Ritsu: I'm Ritsu Tainaka, drummer for After School Teatime.
• Mio: I'm Mio Akiyama, the bass player. Oh, and this is Tim.
• Tim: Hi.
• Mugi: I'm Tsumugi Kotobuki, the keyboardist. But, please, call me Mugi.
• Nodoka: I'm Nodoka Manabe, the band's manager. This is Alvis.
• Alvis: Salutations.
• Jun: I'm Jun Suzuki. One of Ui's friends. I also play the bass.
• Sumire: I'm Sumire Saito, I play the drums, too.
• Nao: I'm Nao Okuda. I'm the producer for the band.
• Sawako: I'm Sawako Yamanaka, former teacher of the band and their current advisor.
• Yui: There is another member of the band, but she's not here.
• Negi: I'm Negi Springfield
• Miyazaki: Uh.. I..I'm... I'm Nodoka Miyazaki. The 27th student under Negi's teaching.
• May: Negi's your teacher?
• Asuna: Mine, too. I'm Asuna Kagurazaka. 8th student under Negi's teaching.
• May: Negi, is this little white creature a Pokémon?
• Chamo: A Pokémon?! Hold up, there, little lady! I'm not a Pokémon!
• May: (startled) Whoa! It talked!
• Chamo: Of course I can talk. The name's Chamo, and I'm an ermine. I've known Negi since he was five years old.
• Lilo: Aloha, I'm Lilo Pelekai, and this is my best friend, Stitch.
• Stitch: Hi.
• Lilo: And before you ask, he's not a Pokémon. (whispers) He's an alien, but really nice once you get to know him.
• Stitch: Ih.
• Dora: Hola, soy Dora. And this is my friend, Emma.
• Emma: Hola.
• Ashley: And I'm Ashley. Ashley Maselan ngunit Determinado.
• May: So, how's Pikachu?
• Ash: Sleeping pretty good, finally.
• Ben: His electrical pressure is back to normal, so he's not in the boom zone anymore.
• Prof. Birch: By tomorrow, Pikachu should be good as new.
• May: That's good news.
• Prof. Birch: Well, now, May, are you ready to choose your first Pokemon?
• Ash: (surprised) What? Your first Pokemon?
• Mugi: (to May) Guess that means you're just about to become a Pokemon trainer right?
• Ben: We have a fresh beginner on our hands!
• Sawako: Well, April Fool's Day is when Pokemon trainers start their journeys.
• (May is presented with three Pokéballs)
• Prof. Birch: These Pokéballs contain three beginner Pokémon. (Picks up one) FIrst up....
• (From the Pokéball, a green reptilian Pokémon materializes)
• Prof. Birch: Treecko.
• Treecko: Treecko! ("How do?")
• Ash: So is it a water type?
• Prof. Birch: No, Ash, it's a grass type.
• Ash: Cool.
• Ben: I happen to have once owned a Treecko when I was first here.
• (May gets a closer look at Treecko before it looks at her)
• Treecko: Treeck. ("Heya.")
• May: (startled) It's creepy.
• Ash: No, it's not, May. I think it's a really cool Pokémon.
• Lilo: I agree.
• Ben: I'll say, I raised one and it was my most valuable Pokémon. My MVP, if you will.
• (Next came Mudkip)
• Prof. Birch: And this is Mudkip.
• Mudkip: Kip. ("Hi")
• (May just groans in disappointment, remembering that it soaked her)
• Ash: That's a water type.
• Prof. Birch: Correct.
• Ben: I just love Mudkip, simply because of my childhood, but that's another story.
• May: Yeah, but that Mudkip wouldn't do a single thing that I asked it to do.
• Ash: Really? How could that little guy cause trouble?
• Ben: (whispers) Well, if you're just a beginner then, well... A beginner Pokémon can give you trouble.
• Prof. Birch: (to Ash) You're very fond of Pokemon, aren't you, Ash?
• (Finally, an orange chick-like Pokémon materializes)
• Prof. Birch: Next I'd like you to meet, Torchic.
• Torchic: Torchic. ("Hello.")
• Prof. Birch: Torchic is a fire type.
• Mugi: Whoa, really?
• Ash: Awesome.
• Ben: And it's a cute one, too. Just ask a friend of mine who works on my uncle Eli's ranch. He's in charge of raising these little ones from the time they're eggs.
• (Torchic approached May curiously and nuzzled her leg affectionately)
• Lilo: I think it likes you, May.
• Stitch: Ih.
• May: Well, this one's not so bad. I like it. That's that. (picks Torchic up) I choose Torchic.
• (Torchic happily agrees before we see 6 Pokéballs and a Pokédex on the table)
• Prof. Birch: Be sure to take that Pokédex, and those Pokéballs. too. If you work hard, you can become an even better Pokémon trainer than your father.
• Ash: Sounds like a great goal, May.
• May: (nervous and sheepish) Yeah. (laughs sheepishly) Thanks, Ash. (murmurs) I'd give up Pokémon any day of the week just for a trip around the world.
• Prof. Birch: Uh, what was that, May?
• May: (startled; nervous) Hmm? I said I wouldn't trade it for the world. (giggles)
• (The next morning, May was looking at her burnt bike, angry that it happened, yet also sad at the same time)
• May: (sighs) My gorgeous bike. This is all that Pikachu's fault. I've got a bone to pick with them. (walks away)
• (In Ash's room, May opens the door)
• May: Hm. (spots something) Oh.
• (May finds Ash sleeping close to his Pikachu, while the others were also fast asleep)
• May: Poor Ash. He's been taking care of his Pikachu all night long.
• Ash: Pikachu.
• (May slightly backs off, thinking Ash is waking up)
• Ash: Pikachu, please be okay.
• (Pikachu wakes up and nuzzles Ash, causing Ash to wake up)
• Ash: Huh? Hey.
• Pikachu: (happily) Pika, Pi! ("Ash!")
• (The two friends share a hug)
• Ash: Oh, I'm so happy.
• Pikachu: Pikachu. ("So am I.")
• (Ben soon wakes up and sees the scene)
• Ben: Oh, my. Everyone wake up! Pikachu's awake!
• (Everyone soon wakes up and sees both trainer and Pokémon hugging)
• Sydney: Aw! Now isn't that just sweet?
• Ritsu: (happy with tears) It's a beautiful sight.
• (May watches secretly with a smile)
• May: Hmm, well, look at that.
• (Ash laughs happily while May shuts the door. Outside, Torchic materializes)
• May: Well, good morning, Torchic.
• (Ben, Ritsu and Mugi step out, each groggy from just waking up)
• Ben: (yawns) Well, good morning, May. It's good to see you. Well, before we can set off, we have to wait for Ashley.
• Ritsu: Then what's taking her so long?
• Ben: She sure is taking a long while.
• Mugi: I'm sure she's taking her time.
• (Finally, Ashley runs out with a Pokéball in hand)
• Ashley: You guys are never gonna believe which one I picked!
• Ritsu: Okay, calm down and tell us what it is.
• Ashley: Come on out!
• (From the Pokeball, Treecko materializes)
• Ben: A fine choice, Ashley. In fact, the same one I made when I first got here.
• Sydney: Oh yeah, I almost forgot I caught myself a new Pokémon, too.
• Ben: Really? Which one?
• Sydney: I'll show you. Come on out!
• (Sydney's new Pokémon materializes)
• Ben: A Wingull? Don't tell me, you went to the beach while the rest of us were sleeping?
• Sydney: The early Pidgey catches the Weedle, like you always say.
• Ben: (laughs) I guess so.
• (Ash, then steps out with a yawn.)
• May: (approaches Ash) Pikachu's alright?
• Ash: Yeah.
• Pikachu: Pika! ("I'm fine")
• May: That's great.
• Pikachu: Pika. ("Thank you.")
• (Pikachu suddenly jumps off of Ash's shoulder)
• Pikachu: Pika! ("Hey, there!")
• (Pikachu quickly walks up to Torchic)
• Pikachu: (greetings) Pika, Pikachu! ("Nice to meet you, my name is Pikachu!")
• Torchic: (greetings) Torchic, Tor. ("I'm Torchic, hi.")
• (The two soon start running around)
• Ben: Aw, look at that.
• Ash: Alright, looks like they're hitting it off okay. (chuckles) I guess you found your first friend here in Hoenn, Pikachu.
• (May looks then turns to her burnt bike)
• May: My poor bike. Ah, who cares?
• (Later....)
• Prof. Birch: (to Ash and May) Now, you two will have to register for the Hoenn League at the nearest Pokémon Center you can find, okay?
• Joshua: And the closest town where I think you'll be able to find one is Oldale Town.
• Ash: Okay, thanks.
• May: (sighs) Walking all that way alone makes me nervous. And my bike's destroyed. (to Ash) Thanks to your Pikachu, mister.
• (Ash looks at her, embarrassed and worried at the same time)
• Ben: (whispers) Brings back that memory of when you got Misty's bike burnt to a crisp about four years ago, huh, Ash?
• Ash: (whispers) Yep.
• May: There must be a solution, a way to get to Oldale Town safely on foot.
• (Ash worries a bit more)
• May: (to Ash) Hey, why don't we got there together? I happen to know the way there.
• Ash: Uh....
• May: Really, Ash, I don't mind at all. It's no trouble, really. Shall we?
• Pikachu: Pika. ("Sure thing.")
• Ash: Well, okay. We'll go together.
• May: (to herself) Yes.
• Ash: Uh...
• Ben: (to the camera) Is she having an aside? What does she think this is, a Shakespearean play?
• Prof. Birch: That's a good idea. You can look after one another.
• Joshua: Yes, be careful.
• Ash: Don't worry. We will. Thanks a lot.
• Pikachu: Pika! ("So long!")
• May: See you soon!
• Ben: Well, let's move it out, troops.
• (Everyone soon departs)
• Narrator: So with Pikachu fully recovered, Ash, May and the rest of our heroes can begin their journey together. As they head for Oldale Town and the nearest Pokemon Center. Together, they're sure to discover new Pokemon and new friends as well. One thing's for sure, even more new adventures lie just ahead.
