Good Witch Glinda is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside The Wizard) in The Wizard of Oz franchise.
She is kind magical lady who helps and guides Dorothy Gale on her quest to Emerald City to see the great and powerful wizard to send her back to Kansas.
Portrayals[]
In the 1939 version, she was portrayed by the late Billie Burke. In fact, Glinda is the only Ozian character to be credited at the end because Burke didn't portray any people in Kansas. (Although in the RSC version her Kansas counterpart is Aunt Em.)
In the 2017 Boomerang series Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, she is voiced by Grey DeLisle-Griffin, who also voices Daphne Blake in Scooby-Doo, Lola, Lana & Lily in The Loud House, Wubbzy in Wow Wow Wubbzy, and Yumi in Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi.
Biography[]
Glinda appears and tells Dorothy that she always had the power to go back to Kansas. She tells Dorothy to close her eyes, tap her heels three times and think to herself "There's No Place Like Home", over and over.
Upon Dorothy's return to Oz since Oz was attempting to be taken over by the Jester, Glinda was kidnapped by the flying monkeys and was taken to the Jester's castle before turning her into a puppet. But in the end, Dorothy defeated the Jester, and restored her and all the other inhabitants of Oz. After thanking her for what Dorothy has done, she cast a spell to send Dorothy back to Kansas.
Physical Appearance[]
Glinda is a woman and known as the "Good Witch of the North". She wears a big pink sparkly dress. She has long orange hair, blue eyes and she wears a hairclip that looks like a star, and she wears a big light blue crown on her head. Under her dress, she wears pink clogs on her feet, and she carries her long magic wand.
Personality[]
Glinda the Good Witch of the North goes by her name very, very much. She's one of the nicest witches in Oz, and she's always doing good things for everyone because it makes her feel good. However, aside from her good nature, she has shown to have a great dislike for her twin sister, Melinda. She's always trying to frame Glinda to make her look like she's done something bad. But aside from all this, Glinda's got a very, very good heart, and she's friendly, smart, kind-hearted and always gives good advice to Dorothy and the gang.
