Story[]

As Natu[]
Guru first appeared as a Natu in Spinarak Attack, when Liam revealed to have caught it in the Ruins Of Alph back in Violet City.
Liam used Guru in Gettin' The Bugs Out, where he battled against Kakuna who then evolved into Beedrill, after a long battle, it tied against it due to the poison it suffered from Poison Jab.
He was later used in Doin' What Comes Natu-rally!, where he had learned Future Sight, and was able to tell Azusa's fortune, he battled against Team Rocket and won.
He was part of their guidence in The Big Balloon Blow-Up!, his stamina began to run out due to its small wings and could not fly because of this, but after he got heartfelt words said to by Liam and Azusa, Guru regained its composure and gathered enough energy to evolve into Xatu.
As Xatu[]
After evolution, he was able to fly due to his evolution, and Ace and Miki noticed Liam's newly-evolved Xatu which had evolved from Natu last night after trying to fly.
When they lost balance due to Team Rocket sabotaging the race, he regained altitude by gaining enough speed, and with his and Francis's help who had also evolved, they won the race.
In Right On, Rhydon, He later used Future Sight, and after his evolution, Guru gained the ability to talk, but through telepathy, however he got interrupted by Team Rocket. He revealed Azusa's true origins about being a senior in The Kecleon Caper! after reading Azusa's mind and her past.
His most notable role was in Celebi: The Voice of the Forest when he sensed the presence of Celebi and Sam, and knew about Celebi being captured and later dying after it wilted, after Celebi was revived by the other Celebi's from the past and future, Ben temporarily used him to stop The Iron-Masked Marauder once and for all.
He was seen helping a sleeping Liam-Azusa couple to the cabin in Fly Me to the Moon! using Psychic alongside Snowbelle.
He was later used in Xatu the Future! where he revealed the visions of Mugi's past. He also revealed some of Yui's past as well as Ui's.
He was brought to Hoenn along with Icarus to Hoenn in Gotta Catch Ya Later.
Personality and characteristics[]
When Guru was a Natu, he was just a little weak due to his capture, but was shown to be quite determined in battle as shown in his battle with Bugsy. He gets tired easily when he flies due to his tiny wings.
After his evolution into Xatu, Guru's power of flight had increased dramatically and with its larger wings, he can fly without tiring, his psychic powers from the usage of Psychic allows him to speak telepathically. He also has the power to see people's past and its future, like most Xatu do. This was shown when he saw through Azusa's past in Xatu the Future!, and later Mugi's future afterwards.
As of The Kecleon Caper!, Guru doesn't take insults very well, as he is revealed to get easily offended by rude comments about him, like the time Ritsu called him a blabbermouth, causing him to retort back at Ritsu and telepathically saying to watch her mouth when she speaks.
As shown in the movie, Celebi: The Voice of the Forest, Guru can carry numerous humans with its Psychic attack, where it used it on Liam and Azusa, and later Ben. Guru deeply cares for Liazu couple as well as other couples such as Benugi and the Aciki shippings, sometimes they ask him about their past, as Guru was willing to do.
Guru also possess strong events from the past and the future, but never used the future events, he is also shown to be the wise brain of Liam's team due to his smart intelligence and strong intuition, it often stares at the sun much like the one in "Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team", he serves as Liam's conduct for aerial searches, and has the IQ of a genius.
As shown in Plant it Now... Diglett Later!, despite his intelligence, he cannot stand Ritsu's antics as he attacked her by pecking repeatedly much like who Twitter did with Sawako out of retaliation. As shown in The Kecleon Caper! and again in Xatu the Future!, he can reveal the visions of other people's past, such as Mugi, Yui, and Ui. In the same episode, he can reveal the future as well, when he reveals Miki's and Ace's upcoming future.
As shown in You're a Star, Larvitar, Guru is shown to be good at making plans with other Pokemon to provide them to do. He is also capable to speak through other people's thoughts from the inside like buildings while being outside.

- His Ability is Magic Bounce.
- Xatu is the second Pokemon out of Liam's team to have it's Hidden Ability.
- Chronically, Xatu is the first Pokemon from Liam's team who can "Talk" through telepathy after evolving from Natu, but only uses it when using Future Sight to see the past or the future.
- This may be a reference to the Xatu from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.
