Hades (DC Animated Universe)

Hades, also known as Lord Hades, is a supporting antagonist in the DC Animated Universe, serving as one of the two main antagonists (alongside Felix Faust) of the Justice League episode "Paradise Lost" and the secondary antagonist of the Justice League Unlimited episode "The Balance".

He is the Olympian god who rules over the Tartarus, the ancient Greek Underworld, where he was sent to after betraying his fellow gods. Originally Queen Hippolyta's lover, Hades conspired to have the Oylmpians overthrown by the Titans millennia ago, resulting in his banishment by Zeus after the Titans lost the war, forcing Hades to eventually contact and manipulate Felix Faust to achieve his freedom again. He is likely the reason for which why Hippolyta's hatred for men started and why the Amazons were raised under misandristic beliefs.

In Justice League, he was voiced by John Rhys-Davies, who also played Vasco Rodrigues in the Shōgun miniseries, Dogati in King Solomon's Mines, the Woodsman in Waxwork, Wilson Fisk in The Trial of the Incredible Hulk, Macbeth in Gargoyles, Man Ray in SpongeBob SquarePants, Viscount Mabrey in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement and J.D. Murdoch in the Anaconda films. In Justice League Unlimited, he was voiced by Bob Joles, who also voiced several of Rhys-Davies' villainous roles as his double, Mr. Hyde in the Van Helsing video game, the Barbarian King and Icarus in the God of War franchise and the Lonely Hearts Club Gang's Boss and Jacquesin My Life as a Teenage Robot.
