Hula, Lilo's Bellossom

This Bellossom nicknamed "Hula" is one of Lilo's Pokemon she owns.

Story[]

Hula first met the Hawaiian little girl named Lilo Pelekai who found her in the rainforest, badly injured from a Spearow attack. Upon finding the Weed Pokémon, Lilo quickly took her home and nursed the Oddish back to health, with help from her sister Nani.

They first appeared as a cameo in Electric Shock Showdown!, when Hula was an Oddish.

In Battle Aboard the St. Anne, she took part of the battle against the Team Rocket Grunts at the St. Anne, she and Liam's Oddish all blasted them away with Solar Beam.

She and Lilo escaped onto the lifeboat when the St. Anne was sinking.

As Gloom[]

Shown in Pokeball Peril, Hula had revealed to have evolved into a Gloom.

She was later controlled by Cassidy and Butch in Pikachu Re-Volts, she was used later on against Team Rocket and showing to know Sludge Bomb, managing to damage it.

In In the Pink, she was used against an angry Nidoking, she managed to land an attack, but she was later defeated.

She was used in Stage Fight, where she battled Team Rocket to stop them from ruining the show, with its newly learned Petal Dance which she revealed to know, she defeated them with ease.

In Flower Power!, Hula is shown to admire Bellossom a lot as shown to go starry eyed on them, implying her dream to evolve into one herself. When Hula saw their friends in a pinch, Lilo used the Sun Stone on her and she evolved into a Bellossom.

In The Grass Route!, she took part of the Grass Tournament, where she battled against, surprisingly enough, Mertle whom she revealed to have a Vileplume, Hula and Vileplume were revealed to be rivals and has a bitter hatred towards her and Mertle. Despite having the type disadvantage, she defeated Vileplume, when Hula learned Hidden Power, then finishing off with Cut.

She battled against a wild Buneary in Dawn of a New Era!, despite Lilo tried catching it, it broke out of its ball instantly, Hula tried to weaken it with Solar Beam but it was defeated before she can execute the move by Buneary's Dizzy Punch, which promptly causes it to evolve into Lopunny.

In Battle Royal 151, She took part of Manalo League, but lost due to her lack of experience of battling, and Lilo wasn't aware that she was no longer a Poison type.

Personality and characteristics[]

Not much is known what Hula's personality was when she was an Oddish.

When she was a Gloom. Hula was shown to care more about its friends than for her own safety, she once protected Lilo from an upcoming attack from Team Rocket, showing her selfless act of herself. Gloom tends to stick to its friends when there's trouble like Team Rocket so she warns them first. Shown in Flower Power, she admires its other evolved form being Bellossom, unlike its other form being Vileplume which she hates, even as a Gloom. She even called Team Rocket big dummies which was translated by Azusa.

After she evolved into a Bellossom, she has developed a graceful and carefree attitude. Although she's carefree, she sometimes gets angry when someone makes fun of Lilo, her family or her her hula dance routines.

In her language, she once said "Stupidhead" to Mertle, and later her Vileplume. Shown in The Grass Route!, Hula develops a hatred and rivalry towards Mertle's Vileplume, resulting them to quarrel and pick fights at one another, they've been bitter rivals since they were both Oddish in the past.

She also doesn't like it when someone tells Lilo will never be graceful or beautiful like her late mother — in that case, Mertle Edmonds.
