Imp is a recurring character within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Imps typically sneak into plant defenses in one way or another then go further at high speeds, but have lower health. Even in games where they can't sneak into defenses, they typically either have their low health, their speed, or some other way to represent their stealth.
In Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, Imps finally got their own playable class, being classified as an Attack class in Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville. Imp is overall the same in both games, having 75 health, being speedy with an equally fast twin gun attack, and focuses on getting quick and easy vanquishes, with their short size making them hard to reach. Imp's main abilities are Impkata which deals light damage quickly around them and Gravity Grenade, which traps plants in an orb-like structure for a limited time.
However, this is only half of the class, as all Imps also have their own Z-Mech, which completely changes their playstyle to instead be high-health behemoths with heavy damaging attacks, as well as the ability to self-destruct if the mech is close to being destroyed. In Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. if the Z-Mech is destroyed, the Imp will be vanquished and unable to be revived while in Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, the Imp simply ejects from the mech with no damaging explosion.
In Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, not only does the Imp themselves have numerous Character variants based on him, each having their own traits which differentiates them from the standard base character, but each Z-Mech is different as well, having their two non explosive abilities replaced by a different set of abilities, the exception being Party Imp's Party Mech. In Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, there are no more variants, instead upgrades that can change how the player wishes to use Imp.
