Jun Suzuki

Jun Suzuki is one of the side characters, if not the only side characters, of the K-ON! series. She plays the bass like Mio Akiyama, but she didn't become part of the Light Music Club until her senior year.

Bio[]

Jun Suzuki is Azusa Nakano and Ui Hirasawa's classmate and later the bassist of the Light Music Club's band Wakaba Girls. Jun grew up with her older brother Atsushi Suzuki and started playing bass at some point in the past. While attending her Junior High school, she became friends with Ui Hirasawa who was her schoolmate at that time. Eventually, she applied to the Sakuragaoka High School and was accepted. After starting her high school career, Jun was looking for clubs to join.

At first she was interested in the Light Music Club and visited it together with Ui, but the club turned out to be too weird for her, so she joined the school's Jazz Club instead.

Personality[]

Jun is generally a playful and easygoing girl, but she is sometimes rude without realizing it, compelling Azusa to reprimand her. Ui tried to get Jun to join the Light Music Club but ultimately failed due to the strange impression she got from her visit to the club room. Instead, Jun joined the jazz club because of a cool upperclassman. However, she started to regret it when she heard about all the activities the Light Music Club did. Jun plays bass in the jazz club and admits to admiring Mio Akiyama. She joined the Light Music Club at the end of Volume 4, and after the Anime ends.

Jun has an older brother, Atsushi Suzuki, nicknamed Acchan by Jun. He plays the bass at a university and helps Jun on "secret training sessions" because she apparently "still sucks at bass". She enjoys clinging onto him, since they are very close, which she denies; with the nickname and their close relationship, they appear somewhat like a couple. Jun has a cat, which Azusa nicknamed Azu-nyan 2. Jun once asked Azusa to look after it, though Azusa only agreed because no one else could.

Appearance[]

Jun has dark brown hair tied back in two small quilts that look more like updos. Her eyes are also brown but this time, clearer. She wears the standard high school uniform.

Relationships[]

Ui Hirasawa[]

Jun and Ui have been friends since primary school. They went to the same junior high school and spent a lot of time together. In their first year, Ui always tried to persuade Jun to join the Light Music Club with her sister, but Jun refused and instead joined the Jazz Club.

In their third year, after the old Light Music Club members had left for university, Jun and Ui together finally joined Azusa in building the new Light Music Club (Wakaba Girls) and recruiting other members.

Azusa Nakano[]

Azusa is introduced to Jun by Ui. After that, they became good friends. In times when Jun needs Azusa's help, such as taking care of Jun's cat while she is out, Azusa is willing to help her (even though she had no idea how to take care of a cat).

Azusa and Ui also tried to persuade Jun to join the new Light Music Club. Looking at the condition of the Light Music Club that needs at least four members, Jun quits her previous club and willingly gets herself involved in the Wakaba Girls music club as the bassist

Sumire Saito[]

Jun first met Sumire when Sumire was planning to take the tea set from the music room (a task given by her master, Tsumugi Kotobuki). At first, Jun and the other girls thought that Sumire wanted to join the club, but by the end finally knew that it was a task given by Mugi. After Sumire joined the Light Music Club, she begins to serve tea (just like Mugi) to the other club members, which Jun tends to enjoy

Mio Akiyama[]

Both Jun and Mio play bass, and Jun admires Mio as her senpai. During the school marathon, Jun was enthusiastic about running with Mio despite seemingly running out of energy shortly before. After the seniors finished their exams and asked Azusa to buy lunch for them at school, Jun volunteered herself to buy Mio's. Despite looking up to Mio, Jun does not appear to be a member of the Mio Akiyama Fan Club

Trivia[]

  • In Liam's Adventures of Pokemon the Series, Jun will appear in Securing the Future! where she, along with Mio, Azusa, Ritsu, Sawako, Nodoka Manabe, Tsumugi, Yui, and Ui is shown to join the rest of Alola in showering Necrozma with light so it could return to its normal form.
  • As shown in Liam's Adventures of Digimon Adventure, she carries the Crest of Faith.
  • Her bass guitar is a Yamaha SBV 500 in Pearl White, which is now discontinued, the white model being even rarer than the other colors. Like Mio, Jun plays with a pick, or a coin if she forgets it.
  • Jun's bass makes extremely few appearances in both the manga and the anime. In the manga, it appears in Volume 4, Chapter 9 when Jun first pulls it out as well as when Jun thinks Yui is calling it cute, it appears mostly obscured by Jun on the cover of High School, and finally it appears in High School, Chapter 13 during Wakaba Girls school festival concert, though mostly out of frame. In the anime, it only appears in Staying Behind!.
  • "Jun" means "Excellence" or "Genius" and "Suzuki" means "Bell Tree"
  • Her surname is taken from bassist Jun Suzuki - the first name pronounced the same but with different kanji (鈴木淳, Suzuki Jun) - of The Pillows.
  • Jun claims that she bunches up her hair because it'll explode if she doesn't. Also, she claims to be able to tell what the weather will be like by how much her hair blows up in the morning. For example, she claims that it will rain because she can tell that the humidity is 90% from her hair.
  • Jun does not appear in K-ON! College, making it the only volume in which a main character does not appear after their introduction.
  • In Ryan F-Freeman's Adventures Series, while Jun is one of Ryan's allies, she was unable to do the biomerging either, so instead her Digimon digivolved instead of biomerging. By the finale of Digimon Tamers, she leaves her Digimon behind who had regenerated back all the way to its In-Training stage, so it can go back to the Digital World, resulting her to quit being a Digidestined in the process, and went back into being a Pokemon trainer alongside Yui and the others who had also quit being Digidestined as well.
  • Jun had been akumatized twice, having two akumatization forms, Junminator and Swipestealer.
  • When the Miraculous is inhabited by the OC, Zaru, Jun becomes Monkey Jungie, a monkey-themed superhero who helps Master Bug/Ladyan and friends ‘during particularly different missions’ in the first season and beyond.
