Kamari
Kamari is a male hyena. He is a member of Shenzi's clan.
When Simba and his friend, Nala, ventured into the Elephant Graveyard, Kamari and his clan surrounded them. However, Simba's father, Mufasa, arrived before they could eat the cubs. That night, Kamari lamented Mufasa's power over the clan. When Mufasa's brother, Scar, arrived in the graveyard and proposed an alliance with the hyenas to take down Mufasa, Kamari and his clan readily agreed.
A short time later, Kamari, Azizi, and Shenzi helped Scar start a stampede to kill Mufasa. Scar then sent the three of them after a fleeing Simba. Simba tumbled down a cliff and could not be seen at the bottom, so Shenzi ordered Kamari and Azizi to go down and confirm the cub's death. However, fearing for their lives, Kamari and Azizi did not do as they were ordered and lied to Shenzi that Simba had been found dead.
Years later, when a young adult Simba returned to challenge Scar, Kamari joined in the Battle for Pride Rock. Kamari, Azizi, and Shenzi tried to help Scar fight Simba, but they arrived just in time to hear Scar betraying them. Thus, after Scar was thrown off Pride Rock by Simba, Kamari and his clan turned on him and killed him.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Kamari lived in exile from the Pride Lands, along with his fellow hyenas. He and the rest of Shenzi's clan took up residence in the Elephant Graveyard, where resources were scarce.
Attack on Simba and Nala[]
When Simba and Nala wandered into the Elephant Graveyard, Kamari and his clan surrounded them. Kamari attempted to distract the cubs, but Azizi butted in, declaring that he wanted to eat them. An irritated Kamari reprimanded Azizi for not following the plan.
Just then, Shenzi appeared and ordered her clan to attack the cubs. Kamari and his fellow hyenas chased Simba and Nala through the Elephant Graveyard until the cubs were surrounded. However, before they could attack, Simba attempted to frighten them with a roar, which amused Kamari and Azizi. In the nick of time, Simba's father, Mufasa, arrived and fended off the hyenas, warning them to never harm his son again.
Alliance with Scar[]
Later, Kamari lamented Mufasa's interference, and Azizi annoyed him further by not giving him his personal space. Kamari then angrily stated that he would have his revenge against Mufasa. As he said this, Azizi spotted a lion approaching and mistook him for Mufasa. This frightened Kamari. However, it turned out to be Scar, who offered an alliance to Shenzi, promising the hyenas free reign of the Pride Lands if they helped him kill his brother.
The next day, Kamari helped start a wildebeest stampede that resulted in Mufasa's death. Scar sent the hyenas to finish Simba off, but the cub escaped over a cliff. Shenzi ordered Kamari and Azizi to confirm the cub's demise, but the two did not follow through, as they figured that no cub could survive such a fall and were too afraid to climb down the cliff.
With Mufasa dead, Scar became the new king, and Kamari and his clan were allowed into the Pride Lands. Over the years, the kingdom became a wasteland, as the hyenas over-hunted the herds. At one point, Scar asked Sarabi to be his queen, but she refused. To punish her, he allowed Shenzi's clan to eat before the lionesses, which delighted the hyenas. Shortly afterward, Nala attempted to sneak out of the Pride Lands. Kamari, Scar, and several hyenas almost sniffed her out but were distracted by Zazu.
Battle for Pride Rock[]
One day, a full-grown Simba returned to the Pride Lands and challenged Scar's kingship. Upon realizing that Simba was still alive, Kamari and Azizi bowed their heads in shame. Shortly afterward, Kamari and the hyenas joined Scar in battle against the lionesses. During the fight, Scar attempted to frame the hyenas for his acts, which Kamari, Azizi, and Shenzi overheard. After Simba defeated Scar and heaved him from Pride Rock, the hyenas attacked and finished with him in revenge.
Physical appearance[]
Kamari is one of the smaller and skinnier hyenas in his clan, being noticeably shorter in height and weaker in build. He has a distinct brown spotted coat, a rather angular forehead, a bald patch on the top of his head, and large ears. His eyes are brown.
