Kamau

Kamau is a major supporting character in the second season of Primal. He is a member of a peaceful tribe of giants who, for a time, were enslaved and forced into servitude by a tyrannical queen, Ima. For a long time, he was forced to serve the warlord who captured his daughter and used him as a weapon of war. Kamau was ultimately able to overthrow Ima with the help of allies and reunited with his daughter.

Appearance[]

With a height of approximately 10 feet, Kamau is incomparably large for a human. In terms of his physique, he is stout and muscular. He is also bald and has dark skin. He wears orange cloth around his waist and orange bands around his arms.

Prior to his enslavement, he wore teal earrings and an orange garment draped over his right shoulder.

Personality[]

Kamau is a silent and stoic individual. Similar to Fang and Spear, Kamau was enslaved and is forced to fight for Ima. Prior to his enslavement, Kamau was once a very peaceful and gentle man, showing compassion for even a spider his young daughter, Amal, was trying to squish by harmlessly catching and releasing it outside. He is a well-dedicated father as he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep his daughter safe from harm. This seems to make him braver and more combative than most in his tribe, as Kamau was the only one who fought back the day Ima and her troops invaded in order to protect Amal. This unfortunately, however, left him with no other choice but obey every whim of Ima when Amal was held hostage by the tyrant.

While in Ima's service, Kamau was brutal and merciless toward opposition, and completely obedient to the queen. Internally, however, he was greatly ashamed and repentant of his killings, even if this ensured his daughter's safety. When he accidentally and unintentionally smashed one of Fang's eggs, he couldn't help but feel sympathetic towards the distressed dinosaur and showed signs of remorse. On another occasion, Kamau felt extreme hesitation to raise his hand against a pacifist tribe that would not retaliate, until Ima threatened his daughter that Kamau was forced to commit the slaughter, greatly traumatizing himself so much that he refused to leave his ship cell in penance.

Kamau held great resentment towards Ima for everything she had done to him, his loved ones, and other civilizations, although he initially lacked the resolve to stand against her, due to her holding Amal hostage and his guilt of committing several massacres. However, after remembering his better nature and recognizing Ima's relentless cruelty, he ultimately chose to help Spear, Fang, and Mira. He also demonstrates that despite his compassion, he will not hesitate against those who have wronged him, as he later gets revenge on Ima and throws her off the Colossaeus to her demise.

History[]

Kamau was likely the chieftain of his people when Queen Ima and her Egyptians invaded his village. Prior to the invasion, he lived in a community of herders and farmers, living very peaceful lives with numerous families. Kamau was a kind and gentle man, even keeping Amal from killing a spider that wandered into their house so he could put it outside. When Ima's forces attacked, many of the giants, having lived largely free of conflict, couldn't fight back and Kamau only did so when soldiers invaded his home and threatened his daughter. While he slew many soldiers, his bloodlust caused him to accidentally drop Amal to the ground, where Ima got hold of her and threatened her with a khopesh, forcing him to surrender. Since then, he has served as her involuntary right-handed strongman, defeating every foe she sacked him on for the sake of his daughter.

When Ima discovered the ship that Fang, Spear and Mira were on, Kamau was sent after the initial attacks failed. His massive size and endurance allowed him to easily capture them. He was then put back into his cell, which was next to the one that Fang, and Spear were put in; Kamau showed regret at having unintentionally destroyed one of Fang's eggs. The ship later stopped at a Babylonian Kingdom, where Kamau was sent to assist in the invasion. The invasion was successful, and Ima rewarded him by having a brief tenure with his daughter.

Kamau would later assist Ima in the invasion of a Qing Dynasty and early Slavic city, heading to the springs after each battle alongside Spear and Fang, who were covered in wounds. Upon arriving at a village in the Indian subcontinent, the villagers tried to give a peace offering which Ima refused and ordered him to kill them all. Kamau was visibly disturbed by fulfilling the order, but when he saw Ima threaten his daughter, he had no choice but to comply and slew them with immense regret. When Spear tried to escape Ima's ship, he offered Kamau the chance to escape, but he refused, since he did not want to risk his daughter's life. Due to this, he was later tasked with killing Fang, Spear and Mira the next day.

Given a massive axe, Kamau was ordered to kill Fang first in front of Ima and her guards. As he looked down at her, he realized that he, Amal and his people would never be safe if they continued to serve Ima and instead broke Fang free of her bindings before hurling the axe at Ima. He immediately took his daughter to safety before Ima could kill her for his defiance before running down to the hull, finding his people enslaved to row the massive ship. Kamau began fighting the guards there, gaining his peoples' attention and encouraging them to revolt. The giants successfully broke free and began to overrun the ship. He later fought Ima and easily overpowered her, hurling her off the Colosseaus and into an accompanying slave ship to her death. Looking down and seeing his companions, Kamau bid farewell to Fang, her children, Spear and Mira. Later on, he and his daughter saw a strange entity out at sea.

Abilities[]
