Kami is an old Namekian who is the original guardian of the Earth and one of the supporting characters of Dragonball and Dragonball Z. Before he became guardian of the Earth, he had a dark side within him and he was forced to seperate the evil from within in order to attain his position as guardian. The evil inside him became King Piccolo who shares the same lifeline with him. Moments before King Piccolo was defeated by Goku, the evil namek spawned out his final offspring/recreation meaning that if King Piccolo dies than so does Kami. Kami also created the Dragon Balls and the eternal dragon, Shenron.
