Major Malfunction is an Autobot Shapeshifter and is Code Red's mentor. Nighlock is his star student. He cares deeply about the safety of his students. He is also Lockdown's older brother.

Malfunction first started out as a teacher on Cybertron, and was proud of his job. He had a star student, named Flash Fire, who went rogue and joined the Decepticons. Flash Fire was almost immediately followed by his more sadistic brother,

- His disguises are a black cop car and a sabretoothed tiger.
- He is good friends with Professor X and Magneto.
- He has a triple bladed sword, the Cosmic Sword of Freedom, two hand pistols, a flame thrower/blaster, a machine gun, and missile launchers on his shoulder.
- Lockdown, the bounty hunter, is his brother.
- Major Malfunction is old enemies with Abigail Williams.
- Major Malfunction will meet Green Arrow (Oliver "Ollie" Queen) in Code Red meets Arrow.
- It is unknown if Major Malfunction cares about his brother Lockdown.
