Miki Sunshine

Miki Sunshine (ミキ日光) is an OC made by Alvinluvr30 and a childhood friend of Tracey Sketchit. She made her debut in Shell Shock.

Biography[]

Miki is a 10-year-old girl, born and raised in a small seaside town on Valencia Island. She lives in a cottage-style beach house Valencia Island with two older sisters, a mother who is a beach lifeguard and former Olympic diver and swimmer and a father who, a retired surf champion, is bound to a wheelchair from a surfing accident when he slammed against the coral reef after wiping out. He now works at a surf shop with help from his Machoke. He also shapes and designs surfboards out of bamboo with his Smeargle and Scyther's assistance.

Early History[]

When she was a baby, Miki was taught how to swim and love the water and the ocean at an early age. As an islander growing up on a warm, sunny and tropical climate, Miki never experienced snow at Christmas or winter time. Due to the problem with plastic trash washing up on the beach where Miki and her family lived near, her hometown opposed a ban on single-use plastic in order to protect the Pokémon. Her community did not have big retail stores or malls. Instead, it has small general zero-waste stores, an organic grocery store, a community garden, a second-hand thrift store, a small movie theater that sold snacks in compostable packaging at the concession stands, a drive-in movie theater, a community center, a library and a bulk store.

While her mother was away on lifeguard duty, Miki and her sisters were looked after by her Great-Aunt Bethany.

When Miki first started nursery school, she met a boy named Tracey Sketchit, who was shy and timid at the time.

During safety week, Officer Jenny came to visit Miki's nursery class to deliver a lesson on stranger danger awareness.

During Fire Prevention Week, Miki's Uncle Aiden, who happened to be a fire captain came to the class to discuss fire safety, and even brought his team of Wartortle along.

When she was seven years old, her Great-Aunt Bethany, who was a diabetic, passed away from a terminal illness.

During her early years, she learned different diving techniques from an olympic swimmer who visited her island home for a demonstration.

On the morning of her 10th birthday, Miki went over to Prof. Ivy's lab to pick up her first starter Pokemon, which happened to be Pichu. Her family celebrated her birthday with a surprise birthday/bon voyage party, cake and presents that afternoon with friends and neighbors.

Miki's mother packed the latter's ita bag she received as a birthday gift with necessities, first aid kit, lifeguard rescue equipment and personal care. She insisted that her daughter take a safety whistle in case of emergencies and allowed her to take a few of her favorite things.

After the party, Miki and Pichu were all set to begin their journey together as they boarded onto the boat to another island. However, it was quite a rough and rocky start when suddenly, without warning, a violent typhoon approached and the Gyarados attacked their boat. The typhoon turned into a raging hurricane as the group of Gyarados gathered and overturned their boat. Just then, a water cyclone appeared and pitched their boat; just as it seemed to be the end, Pichu unleashed his Thundershock upon Gyarados and defeated the atrocious Pokémon.

After the storm died down, Miki and Pichu saw a mysterious and rare Pokémon under the sea called Lugia just moments before being rescued by sailors.

During Her Pokémon journey on the Orange Islands[]

Miki first began her journey on the Orange Islands with Pichu and caught a variety of Pokémon, won the first Orange League gym badge and traded her Tentacool for her sister Marina's Luvdisc. She set on her journey, she remember that she will make her family proud, wherever if she win or lose.

Soon, in Shell Shock!, she met up with her childhood friend Tracey Sketchit along with the Light Music Club, Liam, Ben and company. She also went on to collect Orange League badges to enter the Orange League along with Liam and Ash.

After losing to the supreme gym leader, Miki wallowed in depression. In Enter the Dragonite, after a pep talk with her friends Azusa and Liam, Miki is convinced to return to Pummelo Stadium to cheer for Ash and give him her support. Miki admitted she has a fear of failure and apologizes to her friends and her Pokémon.

In Viva Las Lapras, Miki's rage is triggered by a gang of pirates poaching a school of Lapras.

Brock's father, Flint was running the gym at the time during his son's absence. During a 2-on-2 battle, Miki went with Squirtle and Oddish while Flint went with Golem and Rhydon.

In Cerulean City and the Burglarized House!,

In The Big Water Splashdown!, Miki met Misty's elder sisters Daisy, Lily and Violet. She talked to them and asked where the gym leader was, saying that she had come for her second gym leader battle for her next Kanto league badge. Reluctantly, the three sisters accepted a 3-on-3 battle, with Goldeen, Shellder and Dewgong while Miki chose Pikachu, Oddish, and Butterfree.

In Bill the Pokémon Expert!

In Vermillion City — The Shocking Gym Battle!, Miki arrived in Vermilion City and battled the gym leader Lt. Surge. She learned that he evolved his Raichu too soon. While Surge chose Raichu, Miki wisely chose Wooper as it was a Ground-type and immune to Electric attacks.

In Come And Sail Away - to a Holiday in Porta Vista!, after winning the Thunder Badge, Miki took a boat ride to Porta Vista to visit her grandparents. During her visit, she learned from her grandmother that a Pokémon Surfing Competition was taking place

In Extreme Pokémon, her plan to enter the Extreme Pokémon Race ends up in the dust when she breaks her right arm in an accident during her practice for the upcoming race with her Ledian, Francis after getting accidentaly thrown off her skateboard.

In the Silver Conference, her whole team was wiped out by a trainer with a Rhydon. She then noticed Liam's Espeon was pregnant and in labor; Miki soon realized that her Umbreon, Ringo happened to be the father of Espeon's babies. Upon realizing the situation, she and Liam talked things over about the dilemma, knowing that the baby Eevees needed their mother to look after them.

In Mutiny in the Bounty!, she and her friends encountered a ruthless Pokemon Hunter named J. Miki found herself frightened of the evil woman as she held Kanehekili protectively close to her. After this whole ordeal, Miki was left shaken and traumatized.

She and her friends attended a Pokemon Summer Academy.

In Battling a Thaw in Relations!, she battled Tobias offscreen, she had Kanehekili remaining since the rest of of her team were wiped out, Kanehekili put up a good effort, but he couldn't keep up with Dakrai's speed and power, it knocked him out, eliminating her from the Sinnoh League without defeating any of Tobias's Pokemon and only using Darkrai.

Unova[]

She met Iris and Cilan.

Kalos[]

She met Serena, Clemont and Bonnie.

Miki was hypnotized by an evil Malamar along with Team Rocket, Dedenne, Bonnie, Serena, Clemont and Officer Jenny, Sydney, Oscar, Stitch, Dora, Kathy, and the whole entire Light Music Club. She was even seen wrapped in one of Malamar's tentacles while she was in a trance.

At the end of the Kalos journey, she gave Serena a Pokémon egg as a goodbye gift.

Alola[]

She takes Kathy's option to go barefooted throughout her journey.

Kane-Hekili evolved into an Alolan Raichu.

Miki resumed her Pokémon journey and met Samson Oak, Prof. Kukui, Kiawe, Lillie, Sophocles, Lana and Mallow.

Soon, she learns that her parents are visiting Alola for their wedding anniversary.

In Dummy, You Shrunk the Kids!, she gets shrunk along with Sophocles, Mio, Ritsu, Lillie, Lilo, Oscar, Kathy and Ash. She slips off a floating Comfey and falls into Liam's ramen, and she ends up getting swallowed by Liam, so her Raichu Kanehekeli had to shrink himself so he could rescue Miki from being digested by the acids in Liam's stomach using Psychic, and she returned to normal size just in time.

In Battle Royal 151!, she participated in the Alola League but she ended up losing to Guzma after his Scizor mercilessly beat up her Raichu, eliminating her and placing in the Top 151, this devastated her, up to the point that Guzma made her cry in sorrow after her Raichu was hurt badly, she was forced to take Kanehekili to the Pokémon Center.

She met an aspiring boy named Goh. She also met a girl named Chloe Cerise.

Personality[]

A young bubbly, bright, sunny, cute, nature-loving, jolly, compassionate, kind, sweet, fun-loving and sociable girl. She loves Pokémon and nature. In Liam's series, she is a fan of the After School Tea Time band and even has their songs downloaded onto her MP3 Player.

She possesses her childhood toys (beach ball, dive toys, volleyball, frisbee) which she now lets her Pokémon play with as her playful personality.

Miki is also brave, eager and determined when it comes to challenging another trainer to a Pokémon battle and when facing a threat, such as Team Rocket.

She is not afraid to speak her mind and she can get angry at times. Miki also has her own flaws; she can be a little bit jealous sometimes, silly, somewhat temperamental and a bit overconfident. She is also delicate, strong-willed, well-meaning, and a little bit childish at times. She is also known to be a bit cheeky at times, often playfully teasing a friend, mostly Ace.

Her rage is revealed in Mutiny in the Bounty! Her encounter with the cruel, sadistic and heartless woman Pokémon Hunter J caused her to become anxious and traumatized.

As a child, Miki was bubbly, sweet and curious about the world around her and she always loved to make friends.

Miki is a very smart kid, especially when it comes to dangerous situations, such as strangers.

For Miki, it can sometimes be a bit embarrassing to have a lifeguard for a mom — especially when she insists that you carry a safety whistle on with you at all times in case of emergency, pack a life jacket whenever you go to the lake with your friends and go over the water safety rules. However, Miki knows that her mother means well and admits that Sheila has the coolest job ever.

When Miki was in nursery school, her mom came to her class during water safety week to discuss how to prevent drowning and other accidents in the water.

As the waters on the Orange Islands are treacherous and filled with strong currents and whirlpools, Sheila would only allow Miki to go on her Pokémon journey, on the condition that she pass her junior lifeguard test, which she did a few days prior to her tenth birthday.

Ted "The Tsunami" Sunshine:[]

Miki's father. When she was a toddler, she was taught by him everything about surfing and how to ride the waves.

She looked up to her darling father as they shared a very close bond together in various father-daughter activities, such as rock climbing, trips to the beach, fishing, bike riding, boating, lunch dates, swimming, and even learning about the world of Pokémon. Miki mostly refers to Ted as "daddy".

She believes in him as he believes in her. Miki is excited to learn that her dad is planning to write and publish an autobiography about his life, which may inspire many young people.

For his birthday, Miki signs her dad up for kayaking lessons, which he takes a new interest in.

Marina Sunshine:[]

Miki's older sister. She gave Miki a fishing rod and some special lures she made herself for Christmas a year prior to Miki's Pokémon journey.

Miki's oldest sister. She, Marina and Trinity trade their water Pokémon every once in a while.

Miki and her Great-Aunt Bethany shared a great bond together. Bethany took care of Miki and her sisters when they were young while their mother, who was a lifeguard, was on patrol at the beach.

Miki's cousin who lives on Shamouti Island with Melody and the island elder, Tobias.

In Solitary and Menacing! (LAoPtS), when Kathy has developed a strong hatred for Bea, she trained to have Kathy call off the battle, but Kathy didn’t listen for she is consumed by anger and hatred for what Bea did to Ash and Korrina.

Her love interest and now boyfriend. She started becoming smitten to him in Trouble's Brewing! after he saved her from Team Rocket's Arbok and before starting dating in The Light Fantastic! and made it official with her and his first kiss, she protected him from Team Rocket, leading to her Pidgey to evolve into Pidgeotto.

In Dummy, You Shrunk the Kids!, when Miki (who was shrunken along with Lillie, Sophocles and Ash) is eaten by Liam in a bowl of tonkotsu spicy ramen, she takes a delight to the situation by snuggling inside his soft, cozy and warm stomach. Upon realizing what happened, Liam asked the miniaturized girl if she was still alive and Miki responded, "Yes, I'm still alive. And warm and cozy, too." The impact resulted in a broken arm, which left her unable to participate in the race. Francis, flew over and apologized for what happened. She simply smiled and replied, "Don't worry, Francis. There's always next year. I know you didn't mean for this to happen."

Kane-Hekili, her Raichu[]

He had been her first Pokémon since he was a Pichu. As a Pichu, Miki had been protective of the baby Pokémon since at the time, he was unable to control his own electricity without shocking himself.

In "Get Along, Little Pokémon," the Tiny Mouse Pokemon came down with flu-like symptoms with loose sparks coming from his tiny cheeks. Distressed and worried, Miki wrapped him up in a blanket and was desperate to get him to a Pokémon Center.

Her Froslass, Poli'ahu is named after the Hawaiian Goddess of the snow.
In the Japanese version, her name is Miki Nikko.
According to her mother, Miki was born on a warm, bright and beautiful, sunny spring morning.
Her Bellossom, Hi'iaka is named after Hawaiian Goddess of Hula.
She is the only travel companion who has been inside the human body.
Her Spoink is named Kamapua'a, after the warlike Hawaiian god of the boars.
According to Supreme gym leader Drake, the real reason Miki lost is her fear of failure was holding her back.

In the Australian Aboriginal origin, her name Miki means "The moon"

As a very small child, Miki was prone to shrieking and crying hysterically when she was given a booster shot due to her fear of needles (trypanophobia).
