Mio Akiyama is one of the main protagonists of the K-ON! series, she plays the bass which she nicknamed "Elizabass" (although Yui was the one who named it).
Bio[]
Mio is the bass player of the Light Music Club. Even though she acts mature, calm and collected most of the time, she freaks out from things she's afraid of, are gross, or pertain to gore. She is a tsundere towards Ritsu often, due to Ritsu's immaturity. Because of her extreme shyness, she chose the bass over the more conspicuous guitar. She is so delicate that merely imagining herself being the center of attention almost makes her faint, but she still plays the bass quite well. She is kind and warm with others, caring about her friends and knowing they are important to her.
Although she is not altogether uninterested in joining a band outside school, the time she spends with the Light Music Club members is the time she enjoys the most, so she has completely devoted herself to the club, and during the school festival performance in the fall of her first high school year, she acted as lead vocalist instead of Yui, who had lost her voice. At the time it seemed like Mio might have overcome her stage fright, but after the performance ended, she tripped over a cord and fell, exposing her panties, and was traumatized anew.
Mio is also revealed to have developed a fear of Ghost type Pokemon, and actual ghosts in general. She overcame and conquered her fear of Ghost type Pokemon, but is still afraid of actual ghosts due to having a fear of them.
During elementary school, Mio was an extremely shy girl who often read books. Her classmate Ritsu Tainaka became interested in her for some reasons and started to pick on her on a daily basis which often brought Mio on the verge of tears.
At some point, Mio won an award for a composition that she wrote at school, which meant that she had to read it in front of a large audience. Due to her timid nature, she was really depressed about it until Ritsu found her alone on a playground. After she told her the problem, Ritsu promised her to help her train for the reading and brought her to her home.
Since she was even too shy to read it in front of a single person, Ritsu taught her to imagine the audience as pineapples to stay calm. The trick actually helped Mio to read her composition without problems. Since then, she continued to visit Ritsu at home and the two became best friends. Miraculously, the two could always visit the same school and class together. Since she often visited the Tainaka household, she got to know Ritsu's parents and her younger brother Satoshi Tainaka.
Years later, Ritsu and Mio watched a concert at TV which amazed Ritsu so much that she convinced Mio to form a band together. After Ritsu bought the sticks for her drum set, Mio struggled about what bass she should choose until she could finally decide to buy a "Fender Japan '62 Reissue Jazz Bass". After buying it, she highly cherished it and was distraught when it got its first scratch.
After graduating from Junior High School, she was accepted into Sakuragaoka High School.
After starting her high school career, Mio wanted to join the school's Literature Club. However, her plan was thwarted by Ritsu, who simply ripped the club application in front of her. Ritsu wanted Mio to join the Light Music Club together with her. After hearing that the club needs at least four members to be accepted, Mio was about to give up, just to be forced by Ritsu to search for new members together.
Later, she and Ritsu decided to wait for new members to arrive, but after a few moments, she told Ritsu that possibly no members are going to arrive and join the Light Music Club. Just then, another student had arrived, asking them if they were the Choir Club. When Ritsu tried to force this student to join them, she quickly scolded her and later corrected her about the flashback she had about them watching a concert together. However, the student later introduces herself to them as Tsumugi Kotobuki, who, after finding both of them to be funny and interesting people, happily decided to join the Light Music Club.
Afterwards, she, Ritsu and Tsumugi decided to meet up at a fast food restaurant to discuss on how to get new members to join their club before it is disbanded. A couple of days later, she comes up with the idea of leaving leaflets on the school grounds in the hopes of getting at least a few students' attention and hopefully join their club.
Later on, she and the others receive a club application form about a girl named Yui Hirasawa, whom she, Ritsu and Tsumugi become eager to meet, imagining and expecting her to be a guitar prodigy. Eventually Ritsu comes into the music room with Yui herself and they all greet her.
However, to their dismay they learn that Yui doesn't actually know how to play any instrument apart from castanets and, after listening to her reason for deciding to join the club, decide to play short song to convince Yui to stay. She, Tsumugi and Ritsu are happy to accept Yui into the club for real, thus officially saving the club from being disbanded.
A day after accepting Yui as the new member of the club, Mio is asked by Yui on why she chose to play the bass guitar instead of some other instrument, where Mio gives her reason for choosing her role as bassist in the group.
Upon being asked by Yui to picture herself as the center of attention had she chose a different instrument, Mio faints immediately afterwards. After remembering that Yui still doesn't have an instrument to play yet, she and the others decide to help Yui buy one. Meeting up the next day, Mio, Ritsu, Tsumugi and Yui head over to a music shop to find Yui an instrument that she can play, with her having been attracted to a particular guitar, but they find out that Yui is unable to afford it due to its price.
Thinking of a way to help Yui, Mio and the rest of the club decide on getting part-time jobs. She and the four then take part-time jobs in counting automobiles and passengers for a traffic survey. They finish their shift and are given their pay, to which Mio and the others give to Yui, however, the latter decides to not take it, stating how she feels bad for having to rely on them for her own wish and decide to buy a cheaper guitar the next day.
The next day, Mio and the others return to the music store to buy a cheaper guitar, but to their surprise, Mugi had ended up haggling one of the shop's personnel, who recognizes her as the shop owner's daughter, who then lowers the Les Paul Yui had wanted to an affordable price. Mio and the others then express their happiness to Yui. Back at school, Mio hears Ritsu's goal for the club to perform at Budokan before they all graduate, with all of them taking a group photo to commemorate the club's new goal.
Volume 1
Upon starting her new high school life, Mio Akiyama, after filling out her club application form, goes to join her school's Literature Club, but is stopped in her tracks by her childhood best friend, Ritsu Tainaka. Showing her the club application form for the literature club, Ritsu immediately rips it in half to Mio's horror. She is then dragged by Ritsu to the school faculty where they find out from one of the teachers that the Light Music club will be disbanded unless four new members join to save it. Despite wanting to give up on starting the club, Mio is stopped by Ritsu again when she realizes that she may become the club's president if they join.
Another student then comes in who Ritsu responds to by asking her to join their club. Mio reacts to this by telling her best friend to not force someone into joining them and scolds for making up a promise they did not not make. However, to Mio's surprise, the girl joins them anyway after noting that the club may be fun.
A few days later, Mio and the others get an application form from an upcoming new member, a girl named Yui Hirasawa, whom they are all awaiting the arrival of excitedly. When Ritsu later encounters Yui upon heading to the clubroom, Mio and Mugi prepare tea for her, happily welcoming Yui to the Light Music Club. Unfortunately, their joyous welcome is short-lived when Yui reveals that she was intending to quit the club, much to the three's dismay. Mio then joins in when Ritsu decides to hold a performance for Yui to help her decide if she wants to join their club or not. Despite Yui's brutal honesty that the performance wasn't all that good, it is enough to convince her to join their club at last, thus fulfilling the membership requirement to formally start the Light Music Club.
The next day, at the clubroom, Mio is asked by Yui why she chose to be the bassist. Mio merely says that being the guitarist is embarrassing, shocking Yui. Mio explains that the guitarist is the center of attention of a band, voicing out how she won't be able to handle all that admiration which causes her to faint on the thought of it. Mio then asks Yui if she's bought a guitar yet. After a moment, Yui remembers that she is the guitarist, meaning that she forgot to buy one. Mio is asked by Yui how much a guitar costs. Mio says that a cheap one would cost at least 10,000 yen, but voices out how cheap ones aren't naturally great and that she should buy one that's 30,000 yen or more, causing Yui to react over how expensive they are. The very next day, Mio, along with Ritsu and Mugi, accompany Yui to a local music store to help her buy a guitar. As Yui wonders what to choose, Mio expresses the many varieties she can buy and explains them each to her, but soon realizes that Yui isn't listening as she gets distracted by one guitar she has become attracted to.
Later the next day, Yui shows off her new guitar to Mio and the others, the one she was immediately attracted to the day before. Mio and the others cheer for her. However, Yui can't play the guitar yet as she hasn't practiced at home. Yui says that she couldn't think about playing her new guitar because she admires it so much, Mio asks if she hasn't removed her guitar's protective film yet and Yui nods to it until Ritsu quickly yanks it off, causing Mio to scold her and apologize to Yui. When Yui asks how she can play her guitar during a live performance, Mio points that she has to plug it in on an amp. Yui plays it, but she is still upset that she can't play any other notes yet. When she goes to unplug her guitar, Mio warns her to turn the amp's volume down first, but it is too late as Yui gets blasted by the loud wave of the amp. Mio later suggests that Yui study the chords, but the latter asks her confusingly to teach her how to read music, to Mio's shock.
Personality[]
Mio is very reserved and bashful by nature. She is private and soft-spoken, even amongst close friends, and seems to enjoy time alone, which she often dedicates to songwriting. She has been socially anxious and self-conscious since she was small, hence falling prey to a young Ritsu's teasing, and typically retreated into the sanctuary of her books. She struggles to interact with strangers, has few friends outside the Light Music Club (despite her popularity), and is strikingly sensitive to attention from others. She also embarrasses very easily and does not easily live down mortifying moments. Her bandmates' antics and jokes are hence often at her expense. Mio specifically chose the bass guitar as her instrument because it is not as conspicuous as the guitar.
Mio is warm-hearted and in touch with her emotions, possessing a very sensitive side that reveals itself more than she would like. Her kindness is possibly best demonstrated in her sister-like treatment of Azusa. She even has a heart to heart with the band's new recruit, who she hardly knew at the time, hoping to make her feel welcomed. Mio is very aware and expressive of her feelings, though not always intentionally, be it her appreciation of her friends or her passion for the bass guitar. She is also the first to shed tears following their final school festival concert. She also seems to have a knack for offering her friends comforting words when they are distressed, particularly when it comes to Ritsu. Mio's softer side comes out in her, at times peculiar, writing and lyrics, which often feature cutesy and overly girlish themes and lines. Her weakness is the macabre and horrific, and she can be incapacitated with fear by stories involving the supernatural, horror, and gore. She also has trypophobia, an irrational fear of collections of small holes.
Mio is diligent, responsible, and sober, especially when contrasted with her happy-go-lucky bandmates. She is academically inclined, always ranking within the top 10 students of her grade, and a keen reader and writer. She is a very dedicated musician and is technically advanced at the bass guitar. She is very driven when it comes to the Light Music Club and, in her own words, is committed to the club as if it were her boyfriend. She even takes over lead vocals from Yui when she needs to, despite strongly preferring to solely play bass. Her bandmates often turn to her when faced with academic troubles or when curious about musical technique.
Throughout high school, Mio gradually comes to grips with her anxieties and insecurities. She establishes herself as the voice of reason amongst her bandmates when their carefree ways get the better of them and becomes the most vocal about the band's direction and motivation. She comes into her own as a musician and composer, stepping up as the band's main songwriter and embracing the dual roles of bass and vocals despite her fear of standing in the spotlight. She also becomes more comfortable on stage and more open to the attention that may come with it. Understanding Azusa's reservations about the Light Music Club, Mio was the first to open up to her, convinces her to remain in the club, and stands up for Azusa's ambitions to her fellow bandmates. Mio even finds herself acting like an older sister figure to Azusa.
During her final year of high school, Mio begins to loosen up more, concentrate on the present, and give in to the hijinks of her friends, which she previously viewed as immature. She comes to appreciate the affection of others, such as that of her fan club, although it still leaves her flustered. Mio starts to consider coming of age and the ephemerality of her high school years more than any of her bandmates. She embraces events such as the summer rock music festival to an extent that even surprises Ritsu and voices an almost childish wish to keep playing with the band forever. She even chooses to take a large step outside of her comfort zone in performing a lead role in the school play, albeit with initial difficulties. After contemplating hard about what she values and wants, with university entrance exams approaching fast, Mio resolves that her friendships with Ritsu, Yui, and Tsumugi are too dear to risk. She boldly turns down a distinguished recommendation for a university to apply to the same women's university as her bandmates, in hopes of spending her university years alongside those that matter most to her.
Relationships[]
Ritsu Tainaka[]
Mio's childhood friend. She first met when they were in preschool, she was still 4 years old. Mio and Ritsu are childhood friends, but the latter could not remember how they first met. In elementary school, Ritsu often picked on Mio due to Mio being very shy, as well as left-handed and having silky black hair, among other things.Their first 'serious' interaction came when Mio won a prefectural award for an essay she wrote and she had to read it aloud in front of the school. Mio was depressed because of her shyness, so Ritsu encouraged Mio to imagine the audience as pineapples, which allowed Mio to get over her stage fright. Since then, the two have been best friends despite having very different personalities. Ritsu has loved to tease and scare Mio since they were kids, especially about scary things like ghost stories or disgusting ones like barnacles.
Ritsu also clings onto Mio like a lifeline when it comes to studies, and claims that Mio is the best tutor she has ever met. There were times when Mio clings onto Ritsu instead, when Mio was being bullied by Sawako or other people, hoping Ritsu would save her (but sometimes Ritsu joined in the bullying too).
They both also have a similar interest in photography, as Ritsu always brings a digital camera around, and Mio brings a film camera around. Ritsu was also the one who introduced music to Mio, and encouraged her to learn bass.
Mio and Ritsu understood each other so well that they could easily imitate each other, which helped them when they had to act as Romeo and Juliet, respectively, for their school's festival performance. In her house Mio is also really comfortable to Ritsu to the point of sleeping while having her visit.
There were times when Ritsu got jealous when Mio was spending more time hanging out with others than with her, resulting in a brief conflict between them. However, such tension between the two does not last long.
During Mio's Fan Club Tea Party presentation, their other band members questioned if the slide show was really about Mio, since most of the pictures were dominated by Ritsu. Ritsu said that the photos were from her collection, which she had with Mio since they were little, therefore Mio appeared in every single photo. The photos showed how they grew up together as best friends.
In Dummy, You Shrunk the Kids!, Mio was seen with Ritsu, along with Sophocles, Lillie and Ash where they watched Tsareena battle Pershie.
Azusa Nakano[]
Azusa has always tried to impress Mio and often goes with Mio's ideas since they are the two "sane" members of the light music club. She looks up to Mio because of her maturity, her bass guitar skills, and her more serious attitude than the other band members. When Mio and Azusa were alone together in the club room at one time, Azusa felt motivated to start practicing immediately, since she knew that Mio was the only one that would listen to her. Azusa sometimes unintentionally makes remarks about Mio's weaknesses, such as her weight.
Yui Hirasawa[]
Yui and Mio are often known for not being on the same side, since Mio's maturity is not a good complement to Yui's childish personality. Yui often fools around and does not concentrate on practicing, which usually makes Mio annoyed.
During their first meeting, Mio taught Yui the basics of playing guitar and the basic guitar chords, which Yui thought was too tough for a beginner such as her.
Mio is often jealous of Yui for having a fast metabolism. Mio is very concerned about her weight and tries not to eat anything that will increase it. Yui, on the other hand, eats everything, but never has any increase in weight, making Mio annoyed and jealous.
Despite their differences, Yui has often impressed Mio with her ability to learn things very quickly. And during their band's first concert, when Mio had to sing but was suffering from stage fright, Yui told Mio that she believed in her and knew that Mio had been practicing the song. The other band members followed suit, and the performance was a success.
Tsumugi Kotobuki[]
Mio first met Tsumugi when Tsumugi was looking for the choir club. Tsumugi later joined the light music club only after witnessing the "fun and painful interaction" between Mio and Ritsu. Mio and Tsumugi have generally been good friends, but sometimes Tsumugi 'betrays' Mio, such as when taking vote over whether to play at the beach or to practice, where Tsumugi decided to play with both Ritsu and Yui.
Both Mio and Tsumugi are worried about their weight, which becomes a running joke once they find out that they share this concern.
Ash Ketchum[]
She sometimes chews Ash out for his recklessness which nearly gets himself killed or seriously injured. Mio would also often smack the boy on the head for his dumb, idiotic or foolish antics. Still, she cares for Ash and she supports him
In Brave the Wave! , she reprimanded Ash for his cockiness and forcing his Treecko to overextend itself in battle, but she later forgave him.
In Dummy, You Shrunk the Kids!, Mio was seen with Ash, along Sophocles, Ritsu and Lillie where they watched Tsareena battle Pershie.
Misty[]
She and Misty are both tsunderes.
Brock[]
Whenever Brock tries to flirt with a pretty girl, Mio will not hesitate to pull Brock's ear, similar to Misty and Max. She displayed this behavior in Battle Aboard the St. Anne when she pulled Brock's ear to get him to pay attention. She also loves his cooking.
She has gotten a bit more aggressive when she pulls Brock's ear, similar to when she smacks Ritsu for her stupid antics.

Agent Ben[]
When Ben first met Mio and her friends/band mates in the band After School Tea Time, he identified in a unique way with each of them and found he also had something in common with each of the girls. In the case of Mio, he found that they share a common fear of ghosts, which ends up causing them to hug each other in terror. This occurred in the episode The Tower of Terror.
As shown in Trouble's Brewing!, Mio admittedly got a little jealous for him when Mugi fell for him.
Miki Sunshine[]
Very good friends. Both girls are skilled in volleyball. She comforted Miki when the former became completely traumatized by the encounter with the evil Pokémon Hunter J. She tries to help her cope with the traumatic experience. Both she and Miki like to wear sleeveless clothes, such as tank tops in the summertime. They are both interested in volleyball.
Miki finds this funny whenever Mio, Max or Misty pull Brock by the ear whenever he flirts with pretty girls.
In Dummy, You Shrunk the Kids!, she shows great concern for Miki's well being, especially when she freaks out upon finding out that the miniaturized girl is swallowed whole by Liam.
Kathy Daisy[]
Very good friends. They are both tsunderes.
In Dummy, You Shrunk the Kids! she is shrunken along with Ash as well as Kathy and her little brother Oscar, Lillie, Sophocles, Miki, Ritsu and Lilo.

Trivia[]
- In Liam's Adventures of Pokemon the Series, Mio will appear in Securing the Future! (LAoPtS) where she, along with Mugi, Azusa, Ritsu, Sawako, Nodoka Manabe, Ui, Yui, and Jun is shown to join the rest of Alola in showering Necrozma with light so it could return to its normal form.
- In the episode Traumio, The microphone she was holding attracted an akuma after feeling her traumatic event by Ritsu and Mio is akumatized and becomes "Traumio".
- As of both Undead Devil (LAoMToLaCN), Mio now wields the fox miraculous, allowing her to transform into Elizarena Rouge. In Liam's series, it is revealed that she can also transform into Elizarena Furtive, similar to Rena Furtive.
- She later mentions to Ryan that she can transform into either Elizarena Rouge or Elizarena Furtive, depending what she chooses.
- The name Elizarena, could be referencing to the name of "Elizabass" but with the -rena instead of -bass.
- She was in Possession of the Crest of Prudence, as shown in Liam's Adventures of Digimon Adventure.
- The name Mio means "beautiful" (美) (mi) and "cherry blossom" (桜) or "thread" (緒) (o).
- Mio's surname Akiyama means "autumn" (秋) (aki) and "mountain, hill" (山) (yama).
- Her bass guitar is a left-handed Fender Japan '62 Reissue Jazz Bass in 3-Tone Sunburst, and she usually plays with a pick. It gets named Elizabeth by Yui. In Japanese, since "bass" and "Beth" are both pronounced as "besu", this results in a pun where the name can be interpreted as "Elizabass". Initially Mio dislikes this name, but comes to like and accept it over time. She uses D'Addario EXL160 strings on it, though they are incorrectly shown as EXL160M strings, even though her bass is not a medium-scale. There is a medium-scale version of Mio's bass, but it is only made as a right-handed verison. Fender Japan's page for the JB62/LH.
- In the manga, Mio also owns a Fender Precision Bass in the same colors as her Jazz Bass. This was her first bass and she played it until she acquired the Jazz Bass between her second and third year of high school.
- Mio is left-handed. She was made left-handed because the manga's author, Kakifly, is also left-handed.
- Her surname is taken from former P-Model bassist and keyboardist, Katsuhiko Akiyama.
- The kanji of Mio's given name (澪) is uncommon and means "waterway" or "channel". The given name "Mio" is usually spelled 美桜 or 美緒, from 美 - mi - "beautiful" combined with 桜 - ou - "cherry blossom" or 緒 - o - "thread".
- Mio seems to be a fan of Lomography, as she is often seen with a camera strongly resembling the Lomo LC-A during Ho-kago Tea Time's first summer trip. (This is only shown in the anime.)
- Megumi Sokabe, the former president of the student council and also former president of the Mio Akiyama Fan Club, asked her for an autograph signed "Mio-tan" after being amazed by Ho-kago Tea Time's surprise private concert for her.
- Mio tends to pick desserts with strawberries the most often.
- Mio has the largest hands out of all the members of HTT, which is very useful for a bassist.
- Mio is known to write the kanji for person three times on her palm and then pretend to eat it when she gets nervous.
- Mio is the main target of Sawako Yamanaka's cosplay torture until Azusa joins the Light Music Club.
- Mio hates being ditched by her friends, even crying when they left to play on the beach without her on one occasion.
- Mio seems to know how to play the guitar, like when she showed Yui how to do choking. This is not surprising, as there is virtually no difference in how the guitar and bass are played with regard to the basics.
- Mio's favourite food is Gateau au Chocolat (Rich Layered Chocolate Cake).
- Her favourite genres of music are jazz and moody instrumental music.
- In all of the the ending themes, Mio always holds something: a cane in Don't say "lazy", a strawberry in Listen!!, and an aerosol spray can in NO, Thank You!.
- Though Mio is the most mature in appearance (and in the way she acts), her personality can also be considered the most child-like: she cries a lot, she's known to be a scaredy-cat, and the lyrics she writes are cute, childish, and 'fluffy' (e.g. Fuwa Fuwa Time). She also calls her parents by equally cute and childish names, like mama (ママ) and papa (パパ), and is often embarrassed by it.
- Mio can be regarded as the female counterpart to Paul McCartney of The Beatles. Much like McCartney, Mio is a Left-Handed Leading Bassist who has a penchant for writing sickeningly-sweet and cute lyrics, despite of being the sole voice of maturity and reason within her band that is obsessed with (unsuccessfully) maintaining order and discipline. Mio also shares a close if argumentative friendship with Ringo Starr's counterpart Ritsu (much like how McCartney was to Starr), and also lifted her friend's spirit out of depression (in college) with the heartfelt use of a postcard.
- Also, much like McCartney, Mio is a left-handed bassist who taught her band's idiot savant Yui (Ho-kago Tea Time's equivalent of John Lennon) how to play the guitar from scratch, and both routinely share lead vocal duties with the idiot savant of their respective bands. And while both Mio and McCartney are often exasperated by the irresponsibility of Yui and Lennon, they both share a warm respect for their respective guitarists that is mutually and fondly returned.
- According to Ritsu, Mio is a “closeted sports nut”. She showed interest in volleyball while the club was rehearsing in the gym.
- She will meet Liam in Liam's Adventures of K-ON!.
- She will meet Ryan in Ryan's Adventures of K-ON!.
- Mio hates hearing the word "panties", since someone like Ritsu mentioned it before, since it irritates her and it was a traumatic event for her.
- In Ryan F-Freeman's Adventures Series, while Mio is one of Ryan's allies, she is unable to biomerge like the others, so instead their Digimon digivolved instead of biomerging. By the finale of Digimon Tamers, she leaves Tinkermon behind who had regenerated back to Kyaromon, its In-Training stage, so it can go back to the Digital World, giving up on being a Digidestined in the process, and went back into being a Pokemon trainer alongside the others who had also quit being Digidestined as well.
- Mio has a terrible fear of barnacles, this may be a case of Trypophobia.
- In Ryan's Adventures series, just like in the Liam series, Mio is shown to Brock on his head, similar to Aylin and herself hitting Ritsu. She displayed this behavior, and has gotten a bit more aggressive when she pulls Brock's ear, similar to when she smacks Ritsu for her antics, much to Ryan's amusement and finds it funny like Mugi from Disband the Club. Even though she has her fox Miraculous and became Elizarena Rouge, she considers Ryan as a friend since
- In the English dub of K-ON, she is voiced by Cristina Vee, who also voiced Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug, Sailor Mars, Homura Akemi, Cerebella, Toiletta and its evolved form Foiletta, Blizzaria, Green, Donald Duck, as well as Ash's Riolu.
- When the Miraculous is inhabited by the OC, Flixx, Mio becomes Elizarena Rouge, a fox-themed superhero who helps Master Bug and friends ‘during particularly different missions’ in the first season and beyond. She can also become Elizarena Furtive, which is her new form. When tenshified, she becomes Kitsunojo, a powerful form of herself and Elizarena Rouge and Furtive combined.
- Exclusively to Ryan's series, Mio can also become Elizabug when the Miraculous is inhabited by the OC, Spotty, a ladybug-themed superhero who helps Ladyan and friends ‘during particularly different missions’ in the first season and beyond.
- In Ryan's series of Dearest Family, she, alongside Yui, Ritsu, Mugi(akumatized for the first time), and Azusa were all akumatized forming a group called Dearest Friends. Mio now had a new akumatized name, Bassflekta. Ladyan, with the help of Kitty Noir, Monkey Princess, Sister Bug, Rock Eagle, Presimare and Monkey Jungie, they were able to de-evilize them.
- Mio (alongside the rest of the Light Music Club) reveals that she is a fan of Winnie the Pooh when she was a little girl, the rest of the girls do as well, she mentions that she classifies him as a hero.
- As of A Promise is a Promise!, her love interest is Timothy Gardener due to the fact they both share similarities to one another.
