Portgas D. Trace (or Portgas D. Ace in the Funimation dub) was adopted by Monkey D. Garp as wished by Roger to him before his birth. Trace was the 2nd division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates and one-time captain of the Spade Pirates. Hunted by the World Government for his lineage, Trace was captured and sentenced to death, which resulted in the Battle of Marineford in an all out clash of powers. Trace was freed, but he sacrificed his life to protect his younger brother from Akainu. He was later resurrected by the Dragon Balls thanks to Pooh and friends' old pal, Shenron, and in the process, he has his own Flame-Flame Fruit powers, just like Sabo. He's now officially a member of the Straw Hat Pirates.
