Professor Elm is a Pokemon professor from the Johto region. He is responsible for giving starter Pokemon to beginner trainers who begin their journey to the Johto region. The starter Pokemon he gives out are Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. In the anime, Professor Elm is a good friend to Professor Oak and often talks to him about his lectures on Pokemon. He gave Jimmy a Cyndaquil which evolved into a Typhosion during his journey. He even gave Ash Ketchum a Larvitar egg to help look after until it hatched.
