Rex Owen (originally Rex Ancient) is Max Taylor's best friend, who also lives in Max's house. He owns Ace the Carnotaurus.

- Rex Ancient will be his first guest star appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog Meets The Lion King Full Story. Later in the end of the movie he and Ace become the new members of Sonic's Team.
- Rex will appear in Tino Tonitini Goes to Jurassic Park series.
- Rex will meet Pooh, Ash, Simba, Littlefoot, and friends in Pooh's Adventures of Dinosaur King.
