Sōsuke Aizen

Sōsuke Aizen is the secondary antagonist of Bleach. He originally served in the Gotei 13 as the captain of its 5th Division until he revealed himself to be a traitor, alongside his co-conspirators Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tosen, and the man responsible for secretly manipulating the Gotei 13 into a civil war for the first time in centuries. Following his betrayal, Aizen managed to obtain the Hōgyoku, which he used to create an army of Arrancar to serve his purposes, and attempted to sacrifice the human residents of Karakura Town so that he could create the Ōken, kill the Soul King, and recreate the world according to his vision. After he was defeated by Ichigo Kurosaki and sealed away by Kisuke Urahara, Aizen was sentenced to 20,000 years in Muken, the eighth and lowest level of the Soul Society's underground prison.

Two years later, during the Wandenreich's second invasion of the Soul Society, Aizen was temporarily paroled to help the Gotei 13 fight and kill the Quincy King Yhwach and his elite Sternritters. After Yhwach was ultimately killed by Ichigo, Aizen was sent back to Muken to complete his sentence.
