Scarecrow (DC Animated Universe) in The New Batman Adventures
Jonathan Crane, better known as Scarecrow, is a supporting antagonist in the DC Animated Universe.
He is a costumed criminal and former psychology professor who is obsessed with fear and phobias, and who takes sadistic pleasure in making people hallucinate about their worst fears with his hallucinogenic fear toxin. The Scarecrow later modifies his toxin to combat Batman, to the point of nearly psychologically breaking him.
In Batman: The Animated Series, he was voiced by the late Henry Polic II. In The New Batman Adventures, he was voiced by Jeffrey Combs, who also played Herbert West in the Re-Animator film series, Dr. Vannacutt in House on Haunted Hill, Weyoun and Brunt in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Shran in Star Trek: Enterprise, Kite Man in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Milton Dammersin The Frighteners, Gyrus Krinkle in Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, Shepard Lambrick in Would You Rather, Crawford Tillinghast in From Beyond, John Nichols in Criminal Minds, and Brainiac in Injustice II.
