Sophocles is a new character in the Pokémon anime and is one of Ash's classmates in his school. He likes Electric-type Pokémon. He is a programming geek and loves to analyze things.

- In PrimeForce1's Ash's Adventures series, whenever the adventure in question brings the Alola class into the equation, Sophocles is usually the brains of the operation, researching aspects of their quests to compile in his sent reports to Kukui and being an excellent hacker. As such, his research has proven at times to be a literal lifesaver in certain situations.
- In the third entry of the Ash's Adventures of Thunderbirds trilogy titled Ash's Adventures of Thunderbirds Are Go, it is revealed in Season 3 that 12 years ago (4 years prior to Jeff Tracy's disappearance in that series), The Mechanic once became involved in an accident of dimensional tunneling and ended up in Alola himself. Whilst researching a way to return to his own using the region's resources, he befriended a couple who assisted him with his efforts. Before he eventually came back to his dimension after spending a year in Alola, he gave their son his blessing as thanks for their help. The Mechanic as a result of this is still to this day in that continuity, Sophocles' godfather.
