Whiplash (Marvel Cinematic Universe) in his Mark II suit
Ivan Vanko (in Russian: Иван Ванко), also known as Whiplash, is the main antagonist of the 2010 Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero film Iron Man 2, the second installment of the Iron Man trilogy.
He was a disgruntled and merciless Russian physicist and the son of Howard Stark's disgraced partner Anton Vanko. Following his father's death, Ivan becomes obsessed with taking revenge on Howard's son Tony, feeling that Tony got what should have been his.
He was portrayed by Mickey Rourke, who also played Gorman Lennox in White Sands, Stavros in Double Team, Charles Jericho in Driv3r, Terry Higgins in True Crime: New York City and Hyperion in Immortals.
