Wooly Smurf is the Smurfs' residential sheep shearer who shears sheep. He wears a wool hat and shears on a belt. Wooly often talks with a Texan accent.
He goes to Molar Mountain every first night of Spring (A.K.A. "The Night of the Wool") to shear some wool from one of someone's flock of sheep and leaves smurfberries as payment, as shown in the episode, "Wild and Wooly". But at the end of the episode, The Smurflings gave Wooly the spell from Papa Smurf's magic kit. After he reads the spell, the bucket of smurfberries then transformed into gold, making the exchange reasonable for the boy shepard and his father. Upon returning to the village, Wooly bids farewell to the Smurflings until he is needed again and rides off on his wild toad over yonder.
He returned once in another episode, "Sleepless Smurfs", where he, Lazy, Smurfette and Snappy accompany Papa Smurf to the Land of Nod to find out why none of the Smurfs can't sleep.
His character is portrayed by Dick Gautier on the Smurfs cartoon show.
